WoooHooo, getting back to the Markets. Oh, how I’ve missed you ❤️. All you lovely people can find us tomorrow between 10 & 3 at Heights Morning Market next to Onion Creek Cafe in Houston. By the way, picked up a cactus and succulent addiction during quarantine and will be bringing a few of the critters tomorrow. Also, made myself a pair of rag curtains that I “Love”

It's been waaaay to long since anyone in the family has been back to the trail. We have been on trails, but not the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. I will be back on the trail now as a "section hiker" starting where we stopped 2 years ago and hiking north from where we stopped as attempted thru hikers. Looking forward to getting in some miles and smiles. I have about 3 weeks of time off to hike, can't wait!

In honor of starting our hike on the Appalachian Trail on this date three years ago I took the day off and did a little stepping in Indiana. Think I will forever more take March 12th off and enjoy what this beautiful World has to offer. Forest and I spent many summer days walking these waters collecting cronoids (Indian beads). Some of my best memories with my little boy.

Mandy graduated from high school a few weeks ago and Forest graduated at 4pm on Sunday. We were able to talk them into dinner before they headed out for their summer road trip. Above is a link to their page if you would like to follow along. Love these kids and love their sense of adventure.

I purchased the book "Wild" last summer and would love to pass it on to any interested party. It's about a woman who walks the PCT. It is currently being made into a movie with Reece Witherspoon playing lead role as Cheryl Strand. I'll ship out to the first one to message me their address. Have a wonderful day. Lisa

It was a year ago today that Dean, the boys and I found ourselves in a physically challenging position. We were 300+ miles into the AT, just outside if Erwin Tenn, had sent all of our cold weather gear home and found ourselves in the middle of a snowstorm on top of a mountain. After walking through rain, sleet, and snow we managed to make it to the shelter where we quickly stripped down and retreated to our sleeping bags hoping we did not have hypothermia. Throughout the afternoon and evening other hikers arrived in the same condition as we arrived. Everyone just praying that we were all going to be OK. It was a very scary situation and something that I couldn't wait to put behind me.......why, a year later, does my heart beat faster and I tear up with excitement and desire when I think back about this day. I believe I miss the thrill of living that the trail brought to my life.

Preparing a little Easter egg trail magic. I remember walking through the Smokey Mountains on Easter Day last year thinking how awesome it would be to find some Easter eggs along the trail. This year we will be the Easter Bunny on the Appalachian Trail near Helen Georgia-looking forward to meeting some wonderfully stinky and beautiful people!

River brought all of these letters home from school today. On March 22nd last year all of his classmates wrote us a letter and mailed them to Mt Rogers (we never made it there). The letters were just returned. They are soooo sweet. We are going to respond to each as there were lots of questions and well wishes. Just in case anyone has the same question as Berenice, no we didn't see Bigfoot, dang it. Well then on second thought we did run into another hiker named BAM who could have been mistaken for Bigfoot from a distance :)
