❓Ever think about why your hair is all frizzy and dry? Or why it breaks easily? The answer may lie in your hair cuticles.

💪🏻 Your hair’s outermost layer is the cuticle. It’s made up of overlapping scales that protect your hair from damage. When your hair cuticles are healthy, your hair is smooth, shiny, and easy to manage. However, damaged hair cuticles can cause frizz, dryness, and brittleness in the hair.

💨 There are a number of things that can damage your hair cuticles, including heat styling, chemical treatments, and environmental factors like sun and wind. It’s crucial to maintain healthy hair by paying attention to the cuticles.

Here are some tips for keeping your hair cuticles healthy.

💦 Hydration is key. Make sure to get enough water intake as well as giving your hair plenty of hydration.

🪮 Be gentle when towel drying your hair. Friction can damage the cuticle. Also be sure to detangle hair with a wet brush or comb and start from the ends working gently up to the roots.

🥵 Try to take breaks from heat styling sometimes. This can give your hair a needed break and keep the cuticle healthy.

🌱 Finally, using products that care for the cuticle health is essential to healthy, shiny hair. Make sure your products infuse the hair with hydration and moisture. I am loving these new k-beauty haircare I’ve been using. Makes the hair feel like butter. This photo is after only one treatment. Her ends were so much healthier and it combed out like a dream.

What do you know about Natural Flavors? 🤔⠀⠀
They sound natural and something that should be okay to consume right? 🛑 Not so fast 🛑⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Check the facts 👇🏼⠀⠀
⠀⠀
‼️ Each natural flavor may contain up to 100 ingredients, including synthetic chemicals such as the solvent propylene glycol, the preservative BHA, and GMO-derived ingredients (unless organic or Non-GMO Project verified).⠀⠀
⠀⠀
‼️ The ingredients in natural flavors are considered proprietary and not disclosed either on the label or to a customer who inquires – so you have no clue what is in them.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
‼️ Natural flavors can be derived from anything in nature, including animal parts. The only difference between natural and artificial flavors, is that natural flavors are derived from things found in nature (such as beaver glands...🤭😳 really!!).⠀⠀
⠀⠀
‼️ They can also legally contain naturally occurring “glutamate” by-products that act like MSG, which is an excitotoxin. Excitotoxins make food irresistible to eat but can cause stroke, Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, obesity, migraines, fatigue, and depression.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
‼️ Flavors are designed to have addictive qualities and increase food cravings, contributing to what David Kessler (former head of the FDA) calls a “food carnival” in your mouth. They trick your mind into wanting more and more. If you are having increased food cravings while guzzling down drinks full of natural flavors, you may want to take a closer look at what you are drinking and eating.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
🤓 Check the labels and don't be fooled by the word "natural"⠀⠀
⠀⠀
If a particular brand you love contains natural flavors you can always reach out to the company for clarification 🕵🏼‍♀️⠀⠀

Had a lot of questions about Vitamin C lately…excellent to know about this, especially this time of year so⠀

Let’s talk Vitamin C... ⠀

Pro tip: Make sure that the vitamin C you purchase is plant-based and NOT ascorbic acid. 😳 (Yes, this would be a great time to go check your bottles...and on your skin care creams as well!)⠀

Did you know? ⠀
🤔 Ascorbic acid is just an isolate of naturally occurring vitamin C.⠀

🤔In addition to ascorbic acid, vitamin C must include rutin, bioflavonoids, Factor K, Factor J, Factor P, and other components. If any of these parts are missing, there is no vitamin C, no vitamin activity. ⠀

When just some of those components are present, the body will draw on its own stores to try and make up the differences, so that the whole vitamin may be present. ⠀

Most vitamin C supplements are just a chemical copy of naturally occurring ascorbic acid, which itself is still only a fraction of the actual Vitamin C.⠀

Make sure you are getting what you are paying for...get the whole C from Nature!

Today was truly a blessed day. I traveled with my sweet godson down to Kemp, TX to visit the nuns at the monastery. His father is buried there. We brought some flowers and visited his grave. I am continually amazed by this beautiful life. There are blessings around every corner. Such a beautiful afternoon. 🙏💚🙏

Simple veggie rice with mushrooms, onions, brussel sprouts and garlic. So delicious!

Recipe:

Sauté mushrooms, onions, garlic and brussel sprouts in grape seed oil for 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, dried thyme and roasted garlic bullion.

Pour in 1 cup of rice (I used Jasmine) and sauté for 3 more minutes.

Add 2 cups of water and stir.

Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes.

Fluff rice and serve.

This would be great with a garden salad on the side.

Five ways to eat dandelions⠀

Dandelions are more than a pesky w**d in your lawn. If you have a yard, you know it’s dandelion season. While many people spend both time and money trying to eliminate the dandelion w**d, they are actually a free healthy food that could be added to one’s diet. ⠀

Just like other dark leafy greens, dandlions are rich in riboflavin (vitamin B2) and vitamin A. One cup of dandelion greens contains almost twice as much iron as spinach, and over 500 percent of your daily intake of vitamin K, which may play a role in fighting Alzheimer’s disease. ⠀

The leaves, however, are not the only edible plant part. The flowers and roots are also edible, and root extract has been shown, in some studies, to fight certain types of cancer. While there are many ways to consume the three edible parts of dandelions, try the following:⠀

Dandelion green salad⠀
This is the most simple way to use dandelion greens. Simply pick young greens (older ones are more bitter) and add them to a tossed salad.⠀

Sauteed greens⠀
Cooking dandelions eliminates some of the bitterness. First boil the greens for about 5 minutes, then transfer to a pan with hot olive oil and garlic, and sautee for 3-5 minutes. ⠀

Dandelion fritters⠀
Collect flower heads and wash them. Then batter in a flour, egg, and milk batter mix. Add to a pan with hot oil and cook until brown. ⠀

Baking with dandelion petals⠀
The petals of the flower are extremely versatile. Collect flower heads and then remove the petals from the heads. These can be stored in a plastic bag in the freezer for longer keeping. Add petals to just about anything you can bake like muffins, bread, cookies or quiche. ⠀

Dandelion root coffee/tea⠀
This by far the most labor-intensive use of dandelion but some say its worth the effort. Collect and wash dandelion roots. Chop or food process the roots and dry in a food dehydrator or the oven at 250 degrees Fahrenheit until thoroughly dry. Once dry, roast them in the oven at 350 F until they turn brown (but not burnt). Put roots and water in a pan and bring to boil (2 Tbs root to 16 oz water), then simmer for 20 minutes. Strain and drink.

I’m having some very special tea tonight. My dear friend got me some night time tea from Mount Athos in Greece. This herbal magic was grown, cultivated and prayed over by monks. It’s so yummy and comforting. I’m gonna sleep well tonight.
