U.S. Senator Susan Collins is a big school lunch supporter and met with us for about 15 minutes to discuss our concerns about some of the new dietary guidelines and the implications it could have. We also discussed the increased funding we would need to sustain all these changes, and SNAP cuts. We all want to continue supporting our local farmers and feed children good foods!

She was very proud of all the work School Nutrition professionals are doing! 💪🏼

More than 850 school nutrition advocates are heading to the Capitol Hill this Tuesday, meeting with Members of Congress to share SNA’s 2026 Position Paper and speak up for the students they serve every day.

With 30 million students eating school meals daily, investing in these programs means investing in the health, learning, and future of America’s children.

SNA is urging Congress to increase funding to help schools cover all costs associated with school meal programs - from healthy food and specialty equipment to staff training and labor expenses.

You can help amplify this message. Join us in asking Congress to support school meal programs.

Student voice is the best choice!

Last week in Lewiston, staff worked hard to make these delicious trays. Students got to vote for their favorite entree, fruit, and vegetable each day. Big winners included caesar salad, watermelon, and mac and cheese. 🍉🥗
Friday featured orange chicken made with local chicken from Cluck Ya Poultry!
It was great to hear some student feedback and we are already looking forward to our next Student Choice Lunch Week!
