Let’s talk about Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), aka: Seasonal Depression.

As the days have become shorter and sunlight becomes scarce, many people notice their mood, energy, and motivation begin to drop. SAD is a form of depression that typically occurs in the colder months and can show up as fatigue, sadness, irritability, difficulty concentrating and even an increased need for sleep. Many people often refer to it as feeling “off,” and if this is you, simple shifts like getting outside, maintaining a routine and even practicing mindfulness can make a big difference. 💚

Happy Wednesday!

As the school year has begun for some while others are preparing to start, it is important to recognize the impact this transition can have on the mental health of our children. New routines, academic pressures, and social changes can bring on a mix of emotions from excitement to anxiety. Whether in the classroom or at home, creating supportive spaces where young minds feel heard, understood, and valued is essential.

Children often model themselves after their parents making it important to lead with intentional and compassion. Parents can play a powerful role in setting their children up for a healthy school year by establishing consistent routines, encouraging open communication about emotions, and modeling healthy coping strategies. Simple practices like checking in daily, prioritizing sleep, setting realistic expectations, and creating time for rest and connection can go a long way.

Good communication is the backbone of any healthy relationship, whether it’s with family, friends, or partners. It’s all about being clear and open, which helps everyone understand each other better and build trust. Here’s why good communication is so important-
