..and YES. Licking the food once and then screaming does count as an exposure! Moral of the story? Give kids some time to try foods many, many times. :)

Guess who's baaaaack?!

Magee, one of Tami's service dogs in training, has come back to live with Tami forever! Unfortunately, Magee has lots of allergies that makes her unable to be a service dog. However, no allergy will stop her from joining Tami and Saffron at the office. We are so excited to have her back!

Everyone communicates differently. For neurodivergent individuals, that might mean using AAC, preferring written communication, needing extra time to process, or skipping eye contact altogether. And all of that is valid.

In our latest blog post, we’re sharing practical tips for supporting neurodivergent communication styles, whether you're a caregiver, educator, or just someone who wants to do better. From respecting stimming to presuming competence, small changes can have a big impact! Check it out!

It's Day 5 of Tami's birthday week! Today, she wants to talk to you about one of her favorite speech-related vocabulary words - the homunculus!

In neuroscience, we call the brain’s body map a homunculus, Latin for “little man.” It’s a visual way to show how much brain space is devoted to different body parts. And it’s… wildly disproportionate. Hands get tons of space, lips and tongue get tons of space, but back and legs? Not so much.

The more precise movement or sensation required, the more brain real estate it gets. Which means yes(!), your mouth takes up a huge chunk of brain space. Speech is that complex.

Brains are weird. We love them.

Today is day 2 of Tami's birthday week! Today, let's talk about what Tami's been up to!

Tami has been out of the office and out on the town lately! The last month-ish, she's been out talking at schools (Kellogsville Middle School!), presenting at workshops (a workshop through the GR LGBTQ+ Healthcare Consortium), learning more about community organizations (shout out Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore!), and setting up our full location at Stomping Grounds Play Café. In the meantime, she has spent some time running the front desk while Casie has been gone (her favorite...?). Plus, it's all Saffron (and Penelope Featherington) all the the time.
