I'm Lex Amore, a specialist in functional health and integrated nutrition connected to the natural world. My career began 13 years ago supporting climate change solutions, safe material chemistry, and sustainability-focused designers and innovators. I specialized in communication and a design practice called biomimicry (to behave as Life in the natural world would—functional, regenerative, and interconnected). After surviving some life-altering experiences, I wanted to know: how does nature heal?

My breaking point happened in 2016. I injured my back and met real pain for the first time, losing the ability to walk and move easily, feeling disconnected from the idea of a “normal” 26-year-old. I did all the things I was supposed to do—dedicated my energy to eating “healthy”, consistent physical therapy, and resting. But the pain turned chronic. I struggled with fatigue and depression, and my limitations became my story. After 7 years, I eventually got tired of suffering. And just in time, I learned about trauma and ways pain is stored in the body. I learned about the way the brain works and processes experiences. I took new approaches to healing not available through the healthcare system. I had turned to nature time and time again for guidance, but this time it was different. Eventually, I learned to heal. I came to health coaching to help others find pathways to heal themselves and maintain strong body functioning throughout all of life’s trials. I created Heal with Amore, a nature-inspired approach to coaching that supports both functional metabolic health and mind-body connection. As life would have it, a few months after starting Heal with Amore, I suffered a traumatic brain injury, changing my life again forever. The path I was on altered in many ways, and throughout recovery I have strengthened my purpose, values, and dedication to helping others heal. Working through my own unique challenges and continual healing, I am empowered to help guide others who have been in similar troughs of life. Ultimately, I understand what it takes to survive, and that no path is created the same.
