The Kilgore Fire Department is excited to be the host for S.A.F.F.E. The event is designed to focus on anyone with special needs or abilities. The day is for people with special needs and their families, allowing them to participate in fun, educational, and exciting activities that are free. Most activities are fire service and safety oriented such as hose spraying to put out house fires and ringi

ng a bell, riding in the fire truck, safety puppet shows, balloons, clowns, soaring into the air in a fire department aerial platform, face painting, educational booths to get assistance, free food, fire obstacle course, and entertainment. This is a special day that rewards all, participants, firefighters, city employees, volunteers, and our friends that donate to make this event successful.

Planned Emergency Alert System Test - Thursday, April 2

The City of Kilgore will participate in a statewide emergency alert system test on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 12:00 PM, in coordination with the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM).

During this time, you may:
Receive a test alert on your mobile phone
Hear outdoor warning sirens

Because agencies across Texas are participating, you may receive more than one alert between 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM.

This is only a test. No action is required.

Testing helps ensure our emergency alert systems are working properly and allows us to evaluate how alerts are delivered during real emergencies.
