It's time to register for our June 4th webinar "Defining and Understanding Disasters: What Does It Mean For Rural Nurses?"

This session - presented by Judith Kulig, BScN, PhD, Professor Emeritus, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Lethbridge - will define disasters, provide examples of types of disasters, and include statistics about the frequency of such events in North America. Importantly, the role of rural nurses in preparing and responding to disasters will also be included. The ICN Framework of disaster nursing competencies will be discussed within a context of rural and remote settings. Throughout the webinar, examples from the presenter’s rural wildfire program will be included.

We are THRILLED to announce that we have rescheduled the first webinar in our Disaster Series for June 4th.

Join the esteemed Judith Kulig as she shares her years of knowledge of rural nursing and their role in disasters in the aptly titled "Defining and Understanding Disasters: What Does It Mean For Rural Nurses?".

This webinar will be held on June 4th at 3 PM Central and is the first in a series of three webinars dedicated to rural nursing and disaster response, preparedness and recovery.

Congratulations to GRNEN co-founder Audrey Wright Snyder for being named as Widener University's next Dean of the School of Nursing. Audrey is a staunch advocate for rural nursing and has been promoting access to care for rural and under-resourced populations throughout her career.

We are now accepting application for the 2025-2026 Global Rural Nursing Virtual Collaboration Learning Grant.

To apply for this grant Nursing Universities/Nursing Programs must be partnered with another university/program from a different country and build a program/project that includes 3rd or 4th year BSN students or nursing graduate students.

The Global Rural Nursing Virtual Collaboration Learning Grant will open this year's application period for nursing programs interested in developing a rural nursing program with an international partner.

Four applicants will be accepted into this year's program.
