Peer interaction is crucial to development, healing and maintenance.

Take these 2 babies for example, only a week apart, but very different. One is very good at moving while the other is very good at communicating. And…. guess what, they learn from each other.

As for adults who have suffered a brain injury, peer interaction is their opportunity to regain that skill.

For suffering a degenerative disease, it’s their opportunity to maintain their skills.

So go find your loved one some friends, and give them that opportunity ❤️

FAQS:

How/when can we register?
-At the track day of. We plan to open the gate (see photos for gate and track location) between 4:45 and 5 to start the process. Please be patient with this event as it is the first Thursday night. We plan to mark the gate with balloons.

What ages can participate?
-As young as if they can walk and push a bike to 5 as well as over the age of 5 with special needs who have an Individualized Education Plan or Individualized Service Plan

What kind of bikes are allowed?
-Balance only, no pedals or training wheels

Will there be restrooms?
-There are 2 porta potties on site

What will this event look like?
- During practice, the bandits will be able to ride around the track with their peers. They will go at their own pace. There is very little structure other than we ask that everyone try their best to stay going in the right direction on the track, but we understand distractions can happen. At race time, the bandits will be separated by age, each age group will line up at the strider starting area when their age group is called, and given a cue to go, and then they will race. There will be 3 rounds! Parents/guardians can assist as needed throughout.
