Free Evolt360 Body Composition Scan Friday September 12th at 6 pm for all who attend the Overcomers Free Nutrition Lifestyle Accountability Support Group , the Ground Up Therapy and Wellness, 2322 Osborne Rd, St Mary’s. It’s great to get a baseline reading to help you set meaningful fitness goals. For example, my scan showed that I need to work on building lean body mass and skeletal muscle mass. Research evidence:
The American Gut Project (the largest microbiome study to date) found that people who ate 30+ unique plant foods per week had more diverse, stable, and anti-inflammatory gut microbiomes compared to those who ate fewer.
• Diversity matters for chronic disease protection!
• A diverse gut microbiome has been linked to lower risks of obesity, diabetes, autoimmune disease, allergies, and even depression.
Bottom line: feed your good gut bacteria and they will bless you by proliferating and improving your health!

Does it sound overwhelming to try to eat 30 different plant foods per week? The meal pictured contains:

The soup-broccoli, yucca root (a new one for me), cilantro, carrots, bell peppers, white beans, white onions and spices in addition to bone broth and salmon. That’s 8 plant foods.
The salad-2 lettuce varieties, pickled red onions, baby beets with an avocado dressing. That’s 5 more.
Dessert: red grapes.

That’s a total of 14 plant foods, nearly half of the recommendation in one meal!

Healthy Fillings for sandwich wraps:

A good formula is:
Wrap base (gluten-free, grain-free, or whole grain)
Protein
Veggie crunch
Healthy fat
Flavor (herbs, spices, healthy sauce)

Protein-Rich Options
-Grilled chicken breast strips with hummus and spinach
-Turkey slices with avocado, cucumber, and rosemary
(Avoid deli meats if possible, especially if gluten intolerant)
-Tuna or salmon salad with fresh dill, Greek yogurt or mashed avocado instead of mayo
-Hard boiled egg with baby greens and a sprinkle of feta
-Lentils or chickpeas with tahini sauce and roasted veggies
-Black beans, corn, cilantro, and salsa
-White bean dip with roasted or fresh bell peppers and pickled red onions
-Scrambled eggs with avocado and bell pepper slices

Veggie Booster Fillings:
-Spinach, arugula, or spring mix
-Shredded carrots or beets
-Roasted peppers, zucchini, or eggplant
-Sprouts or micro greens (great for extra nutrients)
-Sauerkraut or kimchi (adds probiotics)

Add these itens made with healthy fats:
-Avocado slices or guacamole
-Hummus or homemade bean dip
-Olive tapenade
-Nut/seed butters
-Tahini drizzle

Cheese/Dairy- if tolerated
-Crumbled feta or goat cheese
-Cottage cheese
-Shredded mozzarella or cheddar
-Ricotta

Sweet & Savory Wrap Ideas
-Turkey, apple slices, and brie (or goat cheese)
-Peanut butter (or almond or cashew), banana slices, and chia seeds
-Cottage cheese, berries, and cinnamon

Global-Inspired Combos:
-Mediterranean: hummus, cucumber, tomato, olives, chicken
-Mexican: black beans, salsa, avocado, shredded lettuce
-Asian: grilled shrimp, shredded cabbage, carrots, sesame-ginger drizzle
-Middle Eastern: falafel, tahini, pickled veggies, parsley.
