DO SOMETHING THAT MATTERS – A challenge for anyone…..

While engaging in serious conversations and donating money are both important and necessary contributions to make to improve our society, I believe we must each go further and actually DO something that matters. What will you do?

My challenge to whomever reads this post is as follows:
1. Do something constructive and helpful that has a positive effect for another human being (they have to know you are helping them - in person). It can’t be part of your job.
2. Do it for a total stranger or at least for someone you barely know. It doesn’t matter what they look like.
3. Then do it again, for the same person or for a new person.
4. Then do something for someone else regularly.
5. Do it to help them and hopefully to get to know them too, and for no other reason.
6. Do NOT post it on any social media platform or tell anyone else what you have done. This is NOT about you.
7. Do NOT like this post (this is NOT about me).
8. IF you want to, please DO share the challenge itself with others through any channel you choose.

While you will likely reap many benefits from what you do for others, the purpose should always be for them. In this way, you lift others up and everyone benefits. You can truly contribute to the health and wellness of our society in a meaningful way. It’s time to DO something that matters.

Perfect timing for the day after Halloween........🎃🎃

November is Diabetes Awareness Month.

What you do today affects your health for your lifetime - a diagnosis of type 2 Diabetes doesn't just happen one day like a big surprise - it is actually the result of years of poor health habits.

Diabetes is one of the leading causes of disability and death in the United States. It can cause blindness, nerve damage, kidney disease, and other health problems if it’s not controlled.

One in 10 Americans have diabetes — that’s more than 30 million people. And another 84 million adults in the United States are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

The good news? People who are at high risk for type 2 diabetes can lower their risk if they make healthy changes. Examples of healthy changes include eating healthy, getting more physical activity, and losing weight.

You can actually prevent type 2 diabetes if you start early enough to make changes to your habits.

It's breast cancer awareness month. There are many ways to contribute to the cause - this one is local for Kingsport friends.

Plus a gentle reminder to all to schedule your annual mammogram and to practice monthly self-examinations. Your health is your greatest asset!

Our annual Bra Event is just around the corner. I am looking for an interested sponsor. Our usual sponsor is unable to participate this year. Here is how you can help:
We need event volunteers
We need volunteers that have experience in "bra fitting"
We need bra donations- we prefer them to be in "new'
We need food donations- finger foods,drinks etc.
We need decorations - Pink-breast cancer awareness
We need make-up, lotions, etc- Pampering materials
We can always use monetary funds as well

Depending on your age, weight, and other factors, you may be at higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The good news is that making healthy changes can greatly lower your risk. To help prevent type 2 diabetes:

Work to get to or maintain a healthy weight
Eat healthy, nutritious foods
Get more physical activity

Are you doing all you can to mitigate the risk of this disease?
If not, maybe it is time to think more about your health.....

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is officially in October each year. Our awareness should be year-round of course. Approximately one in 8 women will be diagnosed with some form of breast cancer during her life (and 1 in 1000 men as well). The good news is that most people will survive breast cancer if it is detected and treated early. That's your cue to schedule your mammogram if it is not already on your calendar. And maybe it is also time you consider embracing better eating habits to achieve a healthy weight and committing to regular exercise, both of which may lower your risk. After all, YOUR HEALTH IS YOUR GREATEST ASSET!
