❄️ As the colder months settle in, nothing feels better than knowing your aging loved one is safe, warm, and cared for right at home. Home Instead Care Professionals provide the support families need, from companionship to help around the house, so everyone can have peace of mind this season. ❤️

One of the simplest comforts on a chilly day is a cozy bowl of homemade soup. With a little help from a Care Pro, your loved one can enjoy nourishing meals that keep them feeling warm and cared for.

🥣 Easy Cozy Chicken Noodle Soup
Ingredients:
• 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
• 1 cup cooked shredded chicken
• 1 cup egg noodles
• 1 cup sliced carrots
• 1 cup chopped celery
• Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Bring broth to a gentle boil. Add carrots, celery, and noodles. Cook until tender. Stir in chicken, season to taste, and heat through. Serve warm and enjoy comfort in a bowl.

Warm food. Warm hearts. Warm home.
That is care that feels like family. 💚🏡

It started with a fall. It grew into friendship that feels like family.

After a lifetime of working the land, Mr. Eddy lost his mobility in an instant. “I just had to lay there until someone came. I couldn’t get up,” he says.

His family lives nearly 700 miles away, and while they couldn’t be there every day to help, his daughter knew he still deserved to feel safe, supported, and cared for.

That’s when she found Home Instead—and Jacquie came into his life.

From the beginning, they just clicked.
They’ve got their own secret handshake.

Mr. Eddy can’t get enough of her southern cooking.
And Jacquie? She listens like a friend, soaking up his stories and life lessons from decades on the farm.

What started as help around the house became something deeper—companionship, laughter, and trust.

Because when family can’t be there, someone like Jacquie can. Someone who shows up with heart. ❤️

Share this story with someone who needs a little hope today. ✨

Our Be A Santa To A Senior program is underway. We are currently finishing up collecting the remaining wishlists and making ornaments to distribute.

Would you consider shopping for an impoverished senior citizen in the area who wouldn’t have a Christmas gift given to them without this program? All program participants are referred by facilities, agencies, social workers, etc.

Each year, we provide gifts for anywhere from 800-1000 or more seniors and it’s absolutely amazing how it all comes together year after year.

You’ll never see more grateful recipients when they receive a gift and know that somebody was kind enough to think of them.

Ways you can get involved:
1. Adopt a senior (or more) and shop for the items on their wish list.
2. Host a Christmas tree with ornaments for others to adopt and serve as a collection/drop off location for gifts.
3. Conduct a drive for commonly requested items as we do end up filling a lot of the gifts at the last minute of ornaments either not adopted or not turned in. (This would be a HUGE help to the program this year. We can send over a list of items that are most helpful!)
4. Donate to the program for specific gift requests that cannot be filled with on hand items. (We have all paperwork needed for this.)

Any contribution to the program is so important and much appreciated. ❤️

This is why we walk. 💜

When Michelle’s dad, Don, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at age 69, her family’s world changed forever. Over 10 years, she watched him go from living at home with caregivers to assisted living, and eventually to an Alzheimer’s unit before he passed away at age 79.

Earlier this year, dementia touched her family again when Michelle’s mom, Sandy, had a stroke and heart attack that rapidly advanced her dementia. Now in memory care, Michelle visits Sandy every evening. Despite these challenges, she finds gratitude: “Even though my mom has changed, I’m still creating memories with her.”

For Michelle, Walk to End Alzheimer’s is about honoring her parents and connecting with others. Each year, she joins her Home Instead team and others in the senior care community to walk not in sadness, but in hope for a cure.

It’s because of passionate people like Michelle that Home Instead, a Walk to End Alzheimer’s Gold National Team, has raised nearly $5.5 million over the past 17 years — including $280,000 just last year — to advance critical Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.

Together with the , we’re fighting for a future without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia. Let’s make 2025 our most impactful year yet. 💪

And this year, we walk with one goal: to help end Alzheimer’s.

At Home Instead, we’ve seen the impact of Alzheimer’s and other dementias firsthand in the homes we visit, in the people we love, and in the lives of those we serve every day. That’s why we’re proud to be a National Team in the 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

It’s hotter than a pepper sprout out there! 🥵

And while we’re all reaching for iced drinks and fans, older adults need a little extra care to stay safe in the summer heat.

Here’s your caregiver-approved summer safety toolkit for aging loved ones:

💧 Hydrate with variety – Water is essential, but try chilled fruit, herbal iced tea, smoothies, or even popsicles to keep it fun and refreshing.

👒 Dress smart – Light, breathable clothing and wide-brimmed hats help regulate temperature and protect sensitive skin.

🌬️ Cool it down – If there’s no AC, use fans, cold washcloths, or even a bowl of cool water for hands and wrists to provide quick relief.

🌿 Time outdoor activities wisely – Early mornings or evenings are safest. A short stroll, porch chat, or birdwatching can bring joy without overheating.

👂 Connect with care – Sometimes, just being present — listening, sharing a memory, or sitting together — is the best form of comfort.

Let’s keep our older adults safe, seen, and supported this summer.
