We're a family from the Kirkland, WA area that has been creating one of a kind beanies, hats and handmade bracelets since 2014 after losing our beautiful son & big brother in a tragic accident. The story behind our name:
Chief is a name that our son Nelson would call his little sisters growing up and then it became a household name. All his friends were soon called Chief, so he was referred to as Chief Nelly. Our original logo has the name Chief and a silhouette of him jumping off the F. That is an actual picture of him from Lake Chelan, the last summer trip we all took together before his accident. Our tattoo logo:
The tattoo logo that is on many of our hats & beanies is the last tattoo that our son got on his arm, and is now tattooed on several friends and his sister as well. His friends asked him after he got the tattoo; "what does it mean"? Nelly's reply; "I'm not into that sentimental bs, it's because it's f'n cool"! So if you're wondering where that slogan came from, well there it is :)
What we really love is seeing the happiness that our gear has brought to our friends, family & Chief fans, as well as the charities we have donated to. With our hat for a hat program we have found a way to turn our tragedy into something special by donating hats to non profit organizations to help keep homeless teens warm during the winter months. Organizations that we have donated to so far include; The Cocoon House, Make-A-Wish foundation, St. Louis Children's Hospital & Patrick Henry Academy in St. We are so glad to see our Chief gear make everyone smile while they're hiking, traveling, working out, or just hanging with the ones they love.
