Please allow me to introduce my friend, Jacob West to you! Jacob is the founder of Little River Integrative Medicine, and a Physician Assistant who has carefully built a reputation of providing excellent care. He has a deep respect for his patients and their story.

I am thankful to have him join our office at Ascend Direct Primary Care, and help me further advance our patient care in a wellness-oriented objective. The longer I practice, the more convinced I am of the body's intrinsic, God-given, healing ability. Often, (but not always)...given the right framework, support, nutrition, vitamins and minerals, and balance, the body is able to right itself and correct course. Throughout my practice, I have carefully sought out the best treatment for each patient I see. Frequently with vitamins and supplements. Often with physical solutions. Occasionally with pharmaceuticals. ALWAYS with an emphasis on nutrition, stress management, sleep, and purposeful movement (usually in that order). These are essential to a balanced, healthy life and cannot be overlooked!! The shortcuts that skip these steps come at a price... especially in our "quick-results" world that we now practice in.
That's why I am so excited about partnering with Jacob, because I see in him a similar passion for walking alongside patients toward better health. He brings some exciting integrative strategies including new approaches with peptide therapy, attention to gut health, inflammation reduction, and hormone optimization (which I have practiced for 20 years and now understand even better!) We are eager to soon offer IV therapy as well, so please stay tuned. ☺️

Join our Pilot Group of Walk & Talk Bootcamp starting February 4th. Our counselor, Kim Henry and dietitian, Megan Prather will guide our patients on a weekly walk while also incorporating talk therapy. This is a great chance to get access to both of them outside of your regular weekly meetings. Not to mention a fantastic way to get a great walk into your week!

I just had the most incredible and unbelievable day marked by generosity that just blows my mind! I have been blessed beyond measure with kind and amazing patients.
But I had 4 different patients that offered incredibly generous things to help people in need, brought gifts, or gave of their time to support me and help me. Just today! It is humbling to be sure.
And I am so thankful to be in a position to connect people with resources and people with needs. And to just experience the gratitude people feel for the care they receive at our office. It takes all of us and I have a wonderful team that helps and supports me! Just had to share... ❤️

Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers in our practice! If you have cause to celebrate a wonderful mother in your life, or have the opportunity to be a mother, I wish you a fantastic day.
But I also want to acknowledge how hard this day is for a lot of people. For those who miss their mother, who wish they could be a mother, who have lost a child, or for whom your family situation is anything but ideal or something worth celebrating, we want to stand with you too. To step into the pain of some of the messiness and unfairness of life and to say it's okay. You are not alone. It is safe to share your struggles and to be seen and understood. We all hurt at times and struggle with identity. Even when things look picture perfect from the outside, they rarely are. Trust me when I tell you that I know.
But even in the hurt, there can still be beauty. Keep seeking understanding and connection. Let people in. Be real. Look to lighten the load for someone in need. When we bear each others' burdens, we ease our own. You matter and we stand with you.

I just want to highlight our amazing counselor, Kim Henry! She has been with us for over a year now, and I hear so many positive results from patients that have benefitted from meeting with her... From a grieving widow who has transformed into someone so vibrant and alive, it didn't seem like the same person, to a teenager who was excited and looking forward to her session with Kim last week, she is making a difference, and I am so thankful. She cares. That's why we love her. And we try to make counseling comfortable and relaxing, which means sitting out under the tree when the weather cooperates. Thanks Kim!!

I am SO glad to be a part of healthcare that does not benefit from people being "sick" and that doesn't have my hands tied to preach the current "agenda" in medicine. Everyday at my office we preach wellness through healthy food choices and exercise and supplements.
Type 2 Diabetes is preventable (and reversible). Many types of cancer are preventable. Alzheimer's, to some degree, may be preventable. We don't have to be a victim to obesity. We have to be smarter than what our culture preaches. And to think about it from the standpoint of "who benefits financially from our poor health as a society?" is staggering!
Don't be a victim. Make healthy choices... for you, and your kids. Teach healthy habits. Come talk to me to get started. YOU can take back your life and regain power over your health and your choices. Stop padding the pockets of big pharma and a food industry that has made us sick. Thankful for companies that partner with this agenda and get the word out. I agree with this powerful message and informative interview here.
