That “Eye Freckle” Could Be More Than You Think.

A choroidal nevus—often called an eye freckle—might seem harmless, especially if your vision feels fine. But in rare cases, these spots can develop into melanoma, a serious eye cancer.

The problem? You won’t feel it. You won’t see it. And you won’t know… unless you get checked.

This is why yearly eye exams matter—even if you don’t wear glasses, even if your vision feels perfect.

Don’t wait for symptoms. Protect your sight.

Book your annual eye exam with Tarr Eye & Vision today.

11/03/2024

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy is sometimes used to treat chronic eyelid conditions, such as Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), which can be associated with recurring styes. MGD is a condition where the oil glands in the eyelids don’t function properly, leading to dry eyes and inflammation that can increase the risk of styes. Here’s how IPL can help:

1. Reduce Inflammation: IPL emits light that penetrates the skin and targets blood vessels, reducing inflammation in the eyelids.
2. Improves Meibomian Gland Function: The heat from the IPL can help unclog the glands, helping reduce styes and other associated symptoms.
3. Antibacterial Effects: IPL has mild antibacterial properties that can help reduce bacterial buildup, which often contributes to styes.
