I am often asked “How did you get into massage therapy?”
That is an easy answer ~
I was led to this path to help others!
I have always been in the helping others business. From your local Scripps Howard Cable Tv Dispatcher/ Customer Service Rep. To then spreading my wings, once cell phones came to town, as a Customer Service Rep, Trainer as well as Escalating Call Rep at US Cellular.
Helping is what I DO!
In 2000, I landed a job at a local patent trademark firm working the front desk. It consisted of a LOT of printing. It was a much smaller and slower office than I was used to. Two years in and I knew there MUST be something out there that I was MEANT TO DO! Printing multi packs of paper a day was NOT working~ Literally! I sent up a prayer. I asked to be given a sign. I was “open” to whatever IT was.
I needed a clue… Direction.
That is where it ALL began!!
On the radio a commercial chimes…
“Quit your job! Go to school full time to be a massage therapist!!”
I laughed and thought to myself, “I know this is NOT what you mean!” and went on with my day. Later on… again the commercial is grabbing my attention. I laugh heartedly again and think to myself, “You know my credit is probably crap, I’m a single mom with 2 little ones, house payment, car payment, bills… I can’t quit my job… hahaha!! I know this is a joke!”
I was making pretty good money at the time and job searching was … Ugh…
On and on, day after day, week after week and finally more than a year of that nagging commercial, I gave in. I can take a “hint!”
I sent in my application along with the entry letter required as to WHY I wanted to be a Licensed Massage Therapist. I love animals and love helping others. My dream of being a Veterinarian or being a nurse is a NO! I can’t do screams of pain or animal/people insides on the outside… I get queasy and faint. Being in the medical field was not an option. I feel as though MASSAGE is where I am being sent.
With the planted “massage therapy seed” in my mind…It seemed like the PERFECT alternative to medical. Massage is another aspect of healthcare, after all.
I don’t know what magic was worked, if my credit was better than I thought, but my application was APPROVED!!
A tiny little miracle ~ It was MEANT TO BE!!
I quit my job, went to school FULL TIME ~ I AM a Licensed Massage Therapist!!!
I never had this career path on my radar and know I was LED to massage therapy to assist others on their healing journey. That, I am sure of!
20 years going strong!!
From beginning at a mobile massage company that I now own, to working in various salons and spas here locally, to a resort in Sevierville, and then a couple of chiropractic offices… Mobile Massage is my calling!
My focus is on YOU, the CLIENT!
I steer away from trying to sell you products, add on services, or have you sign up to a membership. I take the time to listen to your issues and formulate a treatment protocol to alleviate your pain and bring you relief. I make sure you know what tools are available that WORK for your issue, show you how to use them and where to get them. Continually staying up to date with continuing education courses to insure you are receiving the very best treatment for your situation.
