There are certain things one can LOOK FOR - in nutritional supplements, which should be MARKERS of WHICH COMPANIES TO AVOID - TOTALLY.
a) is the company MLM? If yes, despite the hype, the marketing, and those energized group meetings where everyone tries to get their family, friends, and acquaintances to sign up - spend a monthly fee, using and reselling their product, you can expect their product is absolutely NOT THE BEST of it's class, type, or purpose. Many aren't even 'better than average.'
b) if there is ANY MINERAL, in ANY of their products that use the form 'oxide' or 'carbonate' - they really aren't caring about bioavailability or function within the body, they just WANT YOUR MONEY! Iron Oxide = RUST, Calcium Carbonate = LIMESTONE or SAND! Just how much of that do you think really gets used? (hint: if you said less than 1%, you'd be close, as the mineral is less than 10% of the whole number).
c) while we CAN GET most of the vitamins and minerals our bodies need through DIET and exercise, such as vitamin c through eating acidic fruits and veggies, vitamin b through various foods, and vitamin D from sun exposure. That's assuming we are eating right, not mostly processed or canned, or microwaved foods, or fast foods, or drinking a lot of soda, energy drinks, or things that leach nutrients from our system, or otherwise block some nutrients ability to even be used by our body.
Then there is the whole high herbal thing. While spices are nearly always different, even if they have some medicinal impact, herbs ARE PLANT DERIVED DRUGS! As such, virtually all, with very very few exceptions, fall into the RANTS:
R - resistance/immunity,
A - addiction,
N - negative interaction w/medications or treatments,
T - toxic Build up,
S - side effects.
Nearly every person that isn't consistently eating well and correctly is deficient in certain vitamins or minerals. Each person is different, but many common problems CAN BE "HELPED" holistically, with the right ingredient(s). Yes, there actually are some vitamins and minerals that are helpful to your body.
FORM MATTERS, as does the COMBINATION and amounts of certain OTHER ingredients, that help some vitamins and minerals work better - OR WORSE. Therefore, KNOWING and TRUSTING the company you are getting product from, actually and really, understands THEIR FORMULAS - WHY and HOW they WORK within a body is vital.
The doctors that formulated the products for MD's Choice were more than 30 years ahead of time. They KNEW, and were trying to help educate both consumers, and fellow doctors (both human and animal) about the DIFFERENCES in Vitamins, Minerals, FORMS, and DELIVERY methods decades ago.
