Team Kara Our sweet Kara, who is three years old was recently diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome. Most people have never heard about this syndrome.

Dravet syndrome, also known as Severe Myoclonic Epilepsy of Infancy (SMEI), is a rare and catastrophic form of intractable epilepsy that begins in infancy. Children with Dravet syndrome do not outgrow this condition and it affects every aspect of their daily lives. Unless a cure or better treatments for Dravet syndrome and related epilepsies are found, individuals with these disorders face a diminished quality of life. Current treatment options are extremely limited and the prognosis for these children is poor. The constant care and supervision of an individual with such highly specialized needs is emotionally and financially draining on the family members who care for these individuals. Our goal is to spread the word and raise awareness for our precious Kara, as well as the other sweet children affected by Dravet. Awareness is the first step! Kara's current medicine,Stiripentol is NOT FDA approved so no insurance covers it. It costs $1600 for a 3 month supply. Kara Cline has her own account set up at FSG bank where any donations can be made. You can also click on the Dravet foundation website and make a donation to the foundation as well.

We are heading home from Cincinnati childrens. Kara’s appointment went well. We go back soon for eeg and Nuero testing before deciding about vns. Prayers we all end up making the best decision for her. 💜💜

We're on our way home. Appointment went well. We are increasing one of her seizure meds. Dr.Franz is well worth the drive. He sure knows the best about Dravet. I actually agree with him on all her treatments. ( I usually dont with other doctors lol) Today is Dravet Syndrome awareness day. We all have our purple on for trip home 💜💜
