What does it actually take to reach your health goals?
Whether you want to:
🎉Ditch the weight for good
🎉Stop cravings in their tracks
🎉Wake up refreshed with an abundance of energy
🎉Get the best sleep of your life
🎉Enhance your focus so that you can achieve your goals
🎉Stop losing chunks of hair everyday in the shower
🎉Say goodbye to adult acne once and for all
🎉Feel like yourself again
….
❌It’s going to take more than just willpower to exercise and eat well.
To reach your health goals you’re going to need to:
First, identify the ROOT CAUSE of WHY you’re experiencing symptoms.
Next, you’re going to have to follow a customized plan that’s tailored just for you and will often include:
✅ A personalized diet
✅ The correct amount of exercise for you
✅ Stress reduction techniques
✅ Fixing your gut (HINT: I do this will almost ALL my patients regardless of their symptoms)
✅ Focusing on sleep
✅ Targeted supplementation
✅ Balancing your blood sugar (Another thing I do with almost all patients)
✅ + any other specific lifestyle recommendations that YOU specifically need.
Have you been frustrated by the lack of results with the “diet & exercise” only approach?

Have you heard about the vagus nerve before?
It’s a bi-directional nerve that connects the brain to the body, and when stimulated can counterbalance the effects of stress by activating the relaxation response!
This nerve can impact functions in the:
🔗 Digestive system
🔗 Circulatory system
🔗 Respiratory system
🔗 Immune system
🔗 Autonomic nervous system
But beyond its role in stress response, this bi-directional nerve also forms a vital link between the brain and the gut through the gut-brain axis. This dynamic communication pathway actively:
👉 Regulates digestion
👉 Regulates nutrient absorption
👉 And shapes the composition of the gut microbiota! 🤯
In fact, it’s been proven that individuals with a strong vagal tone exhibit heightened resilience to stress, reduced inflammation levels, and a lower incidence of gut issues.
Moreover, the vagus nerve contributes significantly to gut motility, ensuring the smooth movement of food through the digestive system. It actively engages with the enteric nervous system, often referred to as the "second brain," to coordinate peristalsis and optimize the efficiency of the digestive process.
But it doesn’t stop there… 👀
The vagus nerve also helps regulate immune responses in the gut, contributing to a delicate balance between immune tolerance and defense against pathogens. A harmonious interaction between the vagus nerve and the gut supports overall immune resilience!
Want to improve your vagal tone from the comfort of home? Include these exercises into your daily life:
✅Singing
✅Humming
✅Gargling
✅Chanting (phrases/words such as Om)
✅Laughing
✅Gratitude journaling
✅Meditating
✅Deep breathing
✅Spending time in nature
Comment YES below if you’re going to try out one of these exercises!

May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month! Tick-borne illnesses have more than tripled in the U.S. in recent years. Lyme disease is also often transmitted with other bacterial, viral, and parasitic co-infections that can complicate treatment strategies. With warmer weather comes greater risk, so take this opportunity to learn how to protect yourself!

The best way to prevent Lyme disease is to prevent tick bites!
Here are some tips for prevention:

➡️Treat your animals and perform tick checks before letting them into your home
➡️Know when you’re in tick habitat and use caution
➡️Wear light-colored clothing that covers your arms and legs
➡️Use an EPA-approved repellent such as Picaridin or oil of lemon eucalyptus on skin, Permethrin on clothing
➡️Perform tick checks after any outdoor activity. Take a shower after exposure to tick habitat to wash off any crawling ticks.

If you find a tick on your body, remove it quickly- being careful not to squeeze the body and cause regurgitation- to reduce the risk of contracting Lyme disease. Avoid folk remedies like petroleum jelly, matches, or nail polish to remove a tick. Be sure to pack a tick extraction tool when planning activities outdoors! This helps to gently lift the tick by grasping underneath its body.

See a healthcare provider if you do get sick. Lyme disease is curable, but early diagnosis and treatment are important in order to avoid further health problems related to Lyme disease. Once Lyme disease has progressed past the acute infection phase, it becomes much more difficult to treat and can lead to significant disability.

Signs and symptoms of early disease:
🛑Bulls-eye rash (although only present with 70-80% of infections)
🛑Flu-like symptoms- malaise, headache, fever, muscle aches, joint pain, and swollen lymph nodes

If you are struggling with Lyme disease, don’t wait until it’s too late! Contact us for more information on how we can help.

Magnesium plays a vital role in many functions within your body. Magnesium can also be helpful in treating many conditions- constipation, chronic migraines, restless leg syndrome, insomnia, anxiety- just to name a few.

But did you know that there are so many different forms of magnesiums on the market, and that one form vs. another may make a huge difference in how it helps you?!?

I’ve listed a few of the forms of magnesium below that I use and for what purpose. While these are not all of the magnesium forms on the shelf, I chose them based on their bioavailability- because why take something when the body can’t absorb it?!? (Looking at you, magnesium oxide!)

Bioavailability matters!
Most bioavailable forms: glycinate, citrate, l-threonate, malate
Moderate bioavailability: taurate
Sulfate has low bioavailability in the gut, but very good bioavailability through the skin (a great excuse to take an epsom salt soak!).
