I made my first canvas with rocks and neon green. Rocks, flowers, and neon green are things this beautiful and strong woman loves; definitely my most challenging project yet
(This wasn't for my best friend, it was for someone else.)

God connected me with my best friend 2.5 years ago. 1.5 years ago she suggested I do something creative because she saw how it was improving my mental health. I took her advice and I'm so grateful for her.

I'm grateful God placed someone like her in my life and that He gave me this creative ability. I owe it all to Him and I hope I can bring a smile to more faces 🩵

Mental health has been a huge passion of mine since I was diagnosed with severe postpartum depression when I gave birth in 2023. After putting much thought and reflecting, I have decided creating a virtual monthly maternal mental health support group is something I am wanting to do.

If you or someone you know is struggling and is in need of a safe space to share this with, please share this with them. Let's be honest, it's not easy being a woman because of the societal "norms" and crazy expectations and demands that are placed on moms today. It's okay to not feel okay because with support you will heal!

Ok I’m getting nerdy here with my Pokemon obsession lol!

There are lots of postpartum doulas in our community, and we all specialize in different areas. I specialize in mental health because I dealt with severe postpartum depression. OMG! I can't believe today marks the FIRST BIRTHDAY of You Matter! I am so thankful for all the people that have supported me and all the amazing families that have trusted me as their postpartum doula! It's been such an honor! Mental health holds a special place in my heart as it's what brought me into this line of work 🥹 I don't know what 2026 holds in store, but I hope You Matter will continue to be a blessing to those in need and our community 🥹🩵🫶🏻

My favorite thing about being a postpartum doula is providing emotional and mental health support! I never understood mental health until I struggled with severe postpartum depression when I gave birth. I felt things, said things, thought things, and did things that were NOT me. I remember being just one step from falling off the edge and thinking, "I want to help people!" I have a burning passion for mental health and I want to make a positive difference in our community.

Yes, there are A LOT of doulas and they are all great in their own ways! Iney all nave a beautitul heart to serve and have their own quirks that set them apart from others.

My strength is empathy, and I'm very passionate about mental health.

I became really inspired yesterday when I saw a patient's arm sleeve - full of birth flowers and her DNA stand. I thought how beautiful would it be to paint something like this for others?

We never had our first ultrasound for our first pregnancy because we lost that 3 weeks, but we know it would have been born in July 2022. So here's July's birth month flowers & birth month butterfly: larkspur, water lily, and scarlet peacock butterfly. The next canvas will be for our son's birth month, April. I think this will serve as a beautiful reminder and also help with our healing too 🙂 Plus they can be lined up like a sleeve tattoo 😘
