With the last day of classes wrapping up this week in Blount and Monroe Counties, we wanted to say "Thank You" to the second graders at Eagleton Elementary School for letting us visit their classroom and be part of their completion of the Digestive Health Unit.

We helped bring the lesson alive with surgical attire, and the ever-popular organ vest, as well as a few fun health-themed surprises. We love interacting with the kids -- who knows, maybe we have future healthcare professionals in that room that we'll see along their journey to a healthcare career with Prisma Health!

We wish all of our area schools - and the teachers and students - a very happy, healthy summer break!

We're cheering on the Maryville College Baseball team today as they take on Christopher Newport in Lynchburg, Va. as part of the 2026 Division III Baseball Championship!

Before they headed to Lynchburg for Game 1, the student-athletes took time to visit with kids in our Pediatric Rehabilitation-Springbrook clinic. They threw baseballs, made tunnels, and shared just as many fist bumps as they did smiles! They brought baseballs as souvenirs, and before they left, we showed them our gym - which we think is the coolest in town.

Sometimes, thank you just isn't enough.

That couldn't be more true for the volunteers of Prisma Health Blount Memorial Hospital! During this week's National Volunteer Week, we recognize the more than 150 volunteers serving in all areas of our system. They give of their time and talents to support our patients, visitors and staff, and they make a tremendous impact on the care and service we give in all of our settings.

Last year alone, our volunteers contributed 19,063.45 hours of service, welcomed 23 new members, and expanded service areas and programs. They're working to expand our VolunTEEN program to Monroe County this summer, and they're very close to reopening the gift shop in a new on-campus location (coming this summer).

We're thankful for their smiling faces, their compassionate hearts and their willingness to serve.

So while it's not nearly enough, from all of us at Prisma Health Blount Memorial Hospital, we say a big "THANK YOU!"

This jewelry sale fundraiser benefits the Blount Memorial Foundation’s Uninsured Patient Fund, which provides essentials such as medications, transportation and other basic needs for continued healing beyond the bedside.

This Saturday!

Help keep our community safe by properly disposing of expired, unused or unwanted medications at our community's Drug Take Back Day event Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Blount County Justice Center.

We're happy to partner with Be Aware Blount for this important event to help prevent drug-related theft, drug misuse and accidental poisonings.

Prisma Health Wellness Center-Springbrook is hosting “Prediabetes: What Is It and What Can I Do?” on Tuesday, April 21 at noon.

Registered dietitian and certified diabetes care and education specialist Angie Tillman will discuss what prediabetes is, its risk factors, its long-term impacts and simple strategies for what to do if you are diagnosed.
