What is your best “glad it is local” story? Here is one to start. When you lose the screw to your car remote inside your car - American Lock & Key give you a magnet to help find it - while they put a new one in. Both worked. They kept the one I found. Cost: $0

Thanks, Tony & team!

Isn't it amazing when our community needs help - whether it is silent auctions items, sponsorships of kids teams, or even a trumpet for the sheriff's department, it is local companies that step up. Shop local, even for musical instruments like S.S.E. Music, Inc., Leithold Music (who works with Old Towne Strings) whenever you can to support you, your friends, and your neighbors.

The La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank Steve Earp, owner of SSE Music, for his generous donation of a trumpet to our Honor Guard Team! The trumpet will allow our team to participate in the playing of Taps at funerals and other special commemorative events.

Happy International Women's Day! In honor of our women-owned businesses, we're launching our first new program beyond promoting buying local. EmpowHER - women gathering with 8-10 other women who are with fellow business owner peers or fellow leaders (you choose) to:
* celebrate success
* challenge each other
* learn
* educated
* give permission to juggle "some"—because that's what women do - and to drop some. Because that's what women need to do.

We love hearing stories of . Read below how Wanderlust Skulls approached Upcycling by Amy to work with the same client. Working with local companies creates customized solutions that make client's dreams come true. This is how we keep growing a through small local businesses.

When Cassie from Wanderlust Skulls approached me with this project for a client it was, honestly, a bit out of my comfort zone 😅. I don't do a ton with stencils personally and was honestly a little worried about it but decided to push myself and come up with my own design for the front of the dresser to meet the criteria of her clients western style.

Full dresser reveal coming soon!!! 👀

Bridget Hanchette, co-founder and Vice President of Identity Works, passed away on February 8, 2023. She founded the company with her husband, Tom Hanchette, in 1996, and served as Vice President until the time of her death. Bridget focused on service and excellence in everything she touched, as she always wanted everyone to be treated right and have the best experience possible. She leaves behind three children (Benjamin, Adelyn, and Gretchen) in addition to Tom. A complete obituary follows.

The Hanchette family has committed to matching donations of up to $125,000 to City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center in Duarte, California. This medical institution played a pivotal role after Bridget’s initial diagnosis with a glioblastoma (GBM) brain tumor in 2009. The family is asking with all their hearts that family, friends, and business associates contribute to a research fund they have set up to try to find solutions and hopefully an eventual cure for GBM brain cancer with the amazing Dr. Badie and his team at City of Hope. Every dollar counts, so please contribute whatever you can. https://ourhope.cityofhope.org/BridgetH

A memorial service and celebration of life was held on Sunday, February 19th in La Crosse, WI.

This. 💔. Our local restaurants are hurting. Our local owners are burning out. They are covering for worker shortages. They are adapting menus due to food shortages and pricing increases. With already razor-thin profits, they are absorbing wage increases and food cost increases. What can you do? Look at your server as the last possible bright spot for that business owner. Tip well. Be kind. Support local.

This is the challenge our local restaurants are facing - increased prices and shortages. Please understand that they can't absorb cost increases and have to adjust for shortages. This is what is needed to keep our local restaurants vibrant.

Hang in there Hungry Peddler and other local restaurants. You are what make our community unique and a .

Dear Customers~
As of February 3rd, 2023 The Hungry Peddler will not be offering All You Can Eat Fish/Chicken any longer. We've tried to avoid this as long as we could, but inflation finally caught up to us. 😥 We are saddened realizing that this has been some of our customers favorite tradition for many years, and there will be disappointment. Yet, in order to keep the restaurant up and running, this decision had to be made with a heavy heart. ♡ However, We will still be offering a special price on our fish/chicken dinner on Fridays, with an option to purchase additional pieces at a discounted price. We appreciate your understanding about this tough decision and trust you will continue to stop in for your favorite home-cooked meals. It's been tough out there for many restaurants, especially small business owned ones to stay afloat. Again please accept our apologies and we love you for your continued patronage & support.
