Lauren Hurst Yoga A little about me... I have been practicing yoga for around seven years and completed my yoga teacher training in 2013 with Baron Baptiste in New York.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree (McMaster University, 2012), and a Masters degree (University of Western Ontario, 2013) in Social Work; both obtained in Canada. My passions for social work and for teaching yoga stem from my experience with an eating disorder when I was young. My deeper understanding of what it's like to struggle with body image, negative self-esteem, and poor eating patterns has driven

my desire and developed my ability to support others with similar battles. I also hope that my story will provide others with the inspiration and belief that recovery from an eating disorder is truly possible. Yoga has had such a positive influence on my eating disorder recovery. Through yoga, I have learned to accept my body and to adjust my practice to what I need moment-to-moment, day-to-day. Yoga is empowering, inspiring and challenging not only for the body, but also to connect our mind and soul. Please get in touch with me to chat further about yoga classes and/or counselling sessions. Looking forward to hearing from you!

What does it really mean to ‘live from the heart?’

In order to live from the heart, we must conscientiously choose to think and see the world from the heart.

In order to see the world from the heart we must be compassionate to others and ourselves & our Earth.

To live from the heart is to recognize ourselves as spiritual beings who are deeply connected to the Earth and to one another.

Lately this has been my intention every time I land on my yoga mat: practice from the heart. The more I practice this on the mat, the more space, openness & possibility I create to live from the heart (rather than from the head!), too. What does it really mean to ‘live from the heart?’ … READ MORE

New Love Body Yoga blog post: LOVE

'What I’ve come to learn: the more we look deeper within ourselves, we will discover profound love and realize that it is with us at all times regardless of who or what enters or leaves our lives. We have everything already within us to complete us, without the need for anyone or anything else.'

Hey everyone, Lately, love and what it really means to me has been on my mind. I recently did a yoga class at a big event with over 400 yogis practicing around me. I was next to some of my closest friends, and was taught by an instructor whose passion and love is at … READ MORE

New Love Body Yoga blog post on 'how to set goals & make them happen'

Goals are stepping-stones to feeling inspired, empowered & fulfilled, where we take responsibility and accountability for creating a life for ourselves that we love. Our lives then have meaning, purpose and direction, and goals will point us towards the places we want to go.

It is so important for us to sit in gratitude and acceptance of where we’re at right now in our lives – work, relationships, home environment – but also important to know what’s ahead and where we’re going. We should always be looking forward – keeping an open gaze on what we’re working towards, pro...

Newest blog post on Love Body Yoga - living your truth.

'Living your truth means being honest and saying how you feel. It means marching to the beat of your own drum. Living your truth means living colourfully. It means becoming open, vulnerable and living unapologetically.'

First of all, it takes courage to be the person we really are – especially in a world that constantly sends us messages about who we should be. Living your truth means living authentically. It means living the life YOU want, rather than a life based on the expectation of others. You are true … REA...

What if we started to observe our struggles as a gift?
What if you started to see that everything you are going through, every struggle, every challenge, is actually a gift.
It has taken me a long time to start to see hardship in this way, but
I truly believe that darkness is a gift that we open to find the light.

It is a gift because it is in the struggle where you question everything – your needs, your sense of self, your purpose. It is a gift because it asks you to go deeper. To go deeper within yourself to access every facet, every substance of who you are.

There is no one, not one person who will never experience some kind of struggle or difficulty in life. It is guaranteed that things will shake us, things will challenge us, and people will hurt us – and this is really all part of what it means to be human and what it means to … READ MORE
