Rebounding: a gentle powerhouse

Over the years, I’ve worked with many clients managing a wide range of health challenges ~ autoimmune conditions, lymphedema, Lyme disease, and more.

In my office, we focused on things like lymphatic drainage and integrative bodywork. But between sessions? Movement was their homework.

Life is movement and flow

When we get stuck ~ mentally, physically, emotionally ~ it affects everything. Think of how often we say things like "shaking things off" or "getting the energy moving". That’s not just metaphorical, it’s biological.

Calf Raises: A simple way to boost circulation (no gym required!)

Did you know your calf muscles act like a second heart for your body?

Every time you move them, they help pump blood and lymphatic fluid from your lower legs back up toward your heart. That’s a big deal - especially if you spend a lot of time sitting or standing.

Whether you’re at your desk, in line at the store, or folding laundry, adding a few calf raises into your day can go a long way in supporting your circulation and reducing swelling.

Aromatic shower steamers are a simple, beautiful way to turn an ordinary shower into a spa-like escape. Depending on the essential oils you choose, they can promote relaxation, stress relief, or provide a much-needed energy boost.

We’ve all seen those gorgeous, individually wrapped shower steamers in stores—luxurious, yes, but also pricey. The good news? They’re incredibly easy to make at home, smell amazing, and make perfect gifts for friends and family.

Yeah, I’m a little spicy today - cinnamon & vanilla spicy

We had stale sourdough bread and apple focaccia on the counter which inspired this bread pudding. It is best with dense bread to soak up the custardy batter and retain its texture.

Rich with butter, cream, and eggs, homemade vanilla sugar, lots of Vietnamese cinnamon, & a splash of maple syrup, it baked up beautifully and not too sweet.

Rough estimates are:

6-8 thickish slices of bread, chunked
Pint of cream, half and half, or whatever milk you prefer
6 eggs
Tablespoon vanilla sugar or teaspoon vanilla extract
Cinnamon to your heart’s content
Generous splash of maple syrup
Generous pinch of baking spice blend
Pinch of kosher salt
1/2 stick of butter

In an 8x8 baking pan, melt butter and toss with chunked bread.

Mix all the other ingredients and pour over buttered bread

Cover and bake at 350 for about 45 minutes, removing cover for last 20ish minutes so it browns.

Some might prefer it sweeter, just add more sugar or add raisins.

Everyday is a soup day, right?
Today’s kitchen shenanigans included a (small) pot of pumpkin-red lentil soup. Well, in this case, honeynut squash.

When baking a winter squash or sweet pumpkin, I bake more than needed for freezer purée. This batch was baked with thyme so it had an herbacious beginning.

I’ll be posting the recipe on the blog later today. The core ingredients are roasted pumpkin, red lentils, onion, & garlic. Dang, it’s good!
