We see you, mommas and daddies! Through all of the hidden heartaches and the crosses that no one else sees and that we carry throughout our days. Some hard, some light. Your babies knew love. That’s what counts.

⭐️💙Love only multiplies! Same with our doulas :) Brittany Henderson is a dedicated birth professional affiliated with the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA). In addition to her doula work, she serves her community as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and a foster parent through DCFS. Brittany plans to continue her education through the SLCC Nursing Program, with the goal of becoming a Registered Nurse and pursuing a career in midwifery. Passionate about living an active lifestyle, she has a deep love for children and a strong commitment to helping others. Her decision to become a doula was inspired by her desire to support, empower, and advocate for mothers during childbirth, as well as to honor her mother, Brenda, and her best friend, Linda.💙⭐️

⭐️💙Crysta Hebert is our
newest Parish Doula! “My heart is to walk with families through the sacred journey of bringing life into the world. I believe that mother and baby share one intertwined story-not separate outcomes. I believe that birth is not a medical event, but a normal part of life-a deeply transformative experience that deserves respect, compassion, and balance. I am passionate about supporting mothers through breastfeeding and the postpartum season, helping them embrace motherhood with confidence, peace, and the resources they need. My hope is to create a space where every mother feels truly seen and every baby is welcomed with love and intention.”💙⭐️

Think you can’t get a doula last minute? Wrong ;) It is never too late to get a doula! In fact, we have quite a number of moms who call us in the last two months seeking help because that is typically when they start to hear their doctors start to back track on what they said earlier in pregnancy; or maybe they are finding out their doctor is going on vacation, or maybe some other medical issue is coming up! Hint: doulas are not just for low risk births either! We go to ALL births!!! Ask any mom whose birth has become high risk for some reason and if they appreciated their doula being there for emotional and physical support…. It’s not the same thing as having family there or having a nurse there. A doula is constant support from someone who knows the system - a patient advocate of sorts. She’s a good person to have around!

⭐️💙Yes - - your body is made to do it. Made to be pretty amazing, actually. There has been a lot of pushback lately on this saying: “I was made to do this,” or “I was made for this.” As if it’s some insistence that any mother who either had a c section, or had an induction, or an epidural, or didn’t even have a baby were somehow not made for it. QUITE THE OPPOSITE. *The point* of this phrase is that you are a WOMAN. Perfectly made to do great things with a sense of purpose and determination, no matter the limitations or struggles set before you. It is a declaration of positivity and joy, in the midst of conquering your fear. For it is fear, mommas, that has gotten us to this modern obstetrical position that we are in. The liability, the fears of the doctors, leading to unending ultrasounds and tests. If you aren’t sure if they are necessary, ASK. Then if your doctor uses words like your baby is “small-ish” or anything with an “ish” or “let’s err on the side of caution” you simply need to just ask more questions. Ask for specific numbers. Ask them, “what does ACOG say? How does that compare to me?” MY MOMMAS: we need to stop letting fear course through our veins. Because guess where that fear ends up? That fear ends up surrounding our babies in utero…. And that is definitely not healthy for them! Decrease the fear. Don’t let the medical world steal your joy. You are stronger than you think. And yeah - no matter how your birth unfolds, you were made for this. 💙⭐️

⭐️💙Hope is a certified birth doula through ICBD with several years of experience. She is deeply passionate about supporting women through one of the most powerful journeys of their lives—birth. Her mission is to empower each mother she works with to have a voice, feel confident, and remain in control of her birth experience. Hope believes that mothers are the focus, and she is committed to walking beside them every step of the way.

Her inspiration to become a doula came from her late mother-in-law, who faithfully served as the beloved doula of their church community. Before her passing from cancer, she entrusted Hope with carrying on that calling—a gift Hope holds close to her heart and carries forward in every birth she attends.

It is Hope’s honor to support families in creating a birth experience that is not only safe and supported, but truly their own.💙⭐️
