Awareness helps us better understand the challenges survivors face and how communities can support recovery.

Do you personally know someone who has experienced a stroke or brain injury?

Educational Spotlight: What Are Developmental Disabilities?

Developmental disabilities can affect how a person learns, communicates, or moves. Examples include Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, intellectual disabilities, and hearing or vision impairments.

What’s important to remember: a disability does NOT define a person’s potential.

With the right support and access, everyone can thrive.

💬 Quick question:
Before seeing this post, did you already know what developmental disabilities were?

Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month Kickoff

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, and here in Acadiana we’re taking time to recognize the importance of inclusion, equity, and community access for everyone.

Developmental disabilities include conditions that affect physical, learning, language, or behavioral areas. These conditions may begin during childhood and often continue throughout a person’s lifetime.

But awareness is about more than understanding diagnoses.
It’s about creating communities where everyone belongs, participates, and thrives.

At Cadence of Acadiana, we believe that inclusion means:

• Equal opportunities in education
• Accessible workplaces
• Community programs for all abilities
• Respect, dignity, and independence

This month we’ll be highlighting stories, resources, and education that help build a more inclusive Acadiana.

💬 What does inclusion mean to you?

Understanding your benefits shouldn’t feel confusing or intimidating.

Yet many people with Medicaid or Medicare miss out on care simply because they’re unsure what’s covered, what’s not, or where to start asking questions.

From doctor visits and prescriptions to support services you may already qualify for—clarity matters.

💬 What’s been most confusing about your benefits?
Is it coverage? paperwork? approvals? renewals?

Drop a comment or ask a question below.
If you’re unsure, chances are someone else is too.
