📊 FAST FACT: Louisiana ranks among the bottom 10 states in access to disability support services.
❗ Families are facing:
Years-long waitlists for Medicaid waivers
Budget cuts to direct care programs
Burnout from being unpaid, unsupported caregivers
🧓 One mom told us:
“I’ve been waiting 3 years for services for my adult son. If something happens to me… what happens to him?”
⚠️ This isn’t just numbers. This is real people, real families, and real consequences.

🌈 As Disability Pride Month Comes to a Close… ♿💬

As Disability Pride Month comes to an end, we pause to reflect—not just on the progress we've celebrated, but on the powerful voices, stories, and lived experiences that have inspired us throughout July.

This month, we’ve honored leaders, artists, athletes, and advocates.
We’ve learned from their journeys of resilience, challenged long-standing barriers, and uplifted the value of representation and visibility.
We’ve celebrated that disability is not something to overcome—but something to embrace.

But the movement doesn’t end here.
✅ Inclusion is not seasonal.
✅ Accessibility is not optional.
✅ Advocacy is a year-round commitment.

Let’s carry the energy of this month forward. Let’s continue to amplify disabled voices, remove structural barriers, and create a culture where all people—of all abilities—are seen, respected, and empowered.

🎉 Celebrating 35 Years of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) 🏛️

July 26, 2025 marks the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)—a landmark civil rights law that transformed the landscape of equality and accessibility in the United States.

Signed into law in 1990, the ADA prohibits discrimination based on disability and guarantees that people with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else in all areas of public life—jobs, schools, transportation, and public spaces.

🏫 It opened doors to inclusive education.
🚍 It made transportation more accessible.
💼 It ensured workplace protections and accommodations.
🧱 It broke down physical and social barriers.

Over the past 35 years, the ADA has empowered millions of Americans to pursue education, careers, and independent living—laying the foundation for a more equitable society.

But the journey isn't over. Accessibility is not a privilege—it’s a right. As we celebrate this milestone, we must continue working together to build communities that are truly inclusive and universally accessible.

🎤 Crystal Asige: Singing, Leading, and Legislating for Inclusion 🌍

This Disability Pride Month, we proudly celebrate Crystal Asige—a dynamic Kenyan senator, singer, and disability rights advocate whose life and leadership are redefining what visibility and inclusion look like.

Diagnosed with glaucoma in her youth, Crystal gradually lost her sight, but never her vision. She has since risen to become a powerful voice—not only in music and media, but also in public service, where she champions the rights of people with disabilities across Kenya and beyond.

🎶 As a recording artist, Crystal uses her platform to tell stories of empowerment, self-worth, and courage—resonating especially with young women and persons with disabilities.
🏛️ As a senator, she is Kenya’s first visually impaired female legislator, breaking barriers and pushing for laws that promote accessibility, equity, and representation.

She speaks boldly on issues of education, employment, healthcare, and assistive technology—emphasizing that inclusion is not charity; it is justice.

Crystal Asige embodies resilience, advocacy, and bold leadership—a living reminder that disability is not a limitation, but a strength woven with purpose.

🎬 Selma Blair: Redefining Resilience, Raising MS Awareness 💙

As we honor Disability Pride Month, we spotlight Selma Blair—acclaimed actress, author, and fierce advocate—whose journey with multiple sclerosis (MS) has empowered millions and reshaped the public dialogue around disability.

In 2018, Selma revealed her diagnosis with MS, a chronic autoimmune disease affecting the brain and spinal cord. Rather than retreat from the spotlight, she chose to share her story with radical honesty, vulnerability, and strength.

💬 From her emotional red carpet appearance with a cane to her deeply personal documentary “Introducing, Selma Blair,” she’s brought visibility to the often-invisible struggles of living with a neurological condition.

🦯 Selma's openness challenges outdated stigmas and brings greater understanding to issues of fatigue, mobility, voice, and identity experienced by those with MS.

She’s not just breaking silence—she’s breaking barriers.

Through advocacy, storytelling, and self-expression, Selma Blair has become a symbol of resilience, encouraging others to own their truth, embrace their bodies, and demand inclusive care and representation.
