The brain is wired to recognize patterns, not evaluate health.

So when a relationship feels familiar, even if it’s unhealthy, the brain will recognize it as safe simply because it is known.

Healing doesn’t happen through awareness or logic alone. It happens when the nervous system has repeated experiences of consistency and mutual care..enough times for the brain to update what familiarity and safety can mean.
