Stop being serious or in “fix it” mode with kids.
It DOESN’T work.

👉🏼 This boy gymnast, 9 yrs old, quit gymnastics a few months ago. He was scared of skills. It was too much pressure -
and NOT fun.

👉🏼 He rejoined the team with conditions to FIRST feel safe, go at his own pace, and, he did not want to compete.

Guess what. He’s going to compete at
State Meet. 👉🏼 He’s having fun.

🙌🏼 KIDS NEED PLAY.

👉🏼 Inject them with ridiculous positivity.

👉🏼 My clients have success because I boost
the SPIRIT OF THE CHILD. Autonomy. And the spirit IN learning.

Australia & New Zealand, here I come!
I get to speak about Resilience and how it’s evolving. No longer a mindset or decision to be tough and bounce back. Resilience is a dynamic process with tools & practices to nurture ways to become more resilient.

So exciting! 2 conferences in Gold Coast - GCA National Conference (Gymnastics Clubs of Australia) and IACDP (Intl Assoc. of Child Activity Programs).
Then I fly to Auckland, NZ I’m teaching 2 workshops at New Harbour Gymnastics and Active Attitude!

Changing a mindset takes practice & strengthening a growth mindset takes effort. It’s not just natural for everyone - it’s a learned skill.

⭐️How can a person increase the likelihood of success in changing their mindset - and believe they can reduce anxiety, for example?

1. Surround themselves with people who believe in a growth mindset - “You can learn, you can improve” and “I believe in you.”
2. Follow a plan and practice exercises daily: Calming exercises with deep breathing, positive self talk, sensory exercises that stimulate your senses and connect your mind to your body, visualize and draw success on paper.
3. Ground yourself in the present moment - my feet are touching the ground right now. I am safe right now. I have all I need right now. I can breathe and feel my belly expanding now, I calm right now.
4. Think it, write it, say it, sing it - “I let go of results. I focus on the process. I’m in control of me!” Make it fun!
5. Listen to “hype” music that gives you positive energy and makes you feel good!
6. Draw a mountain on paper. Draw a person with a big smile climbing it and reaching the top. You are dancing on the top!
7. Tell 10 people, “Hey, did you know I like a challenge!” with a smile.

As I research fear, autonomy and bravery in children, I searched for intellectual bravery - because we can be smarter about how to teach coaches and kids the steps for bravery.
Then I found an article in the Harvard Business Review related to adults in the workplace. I’m expanding on this in regard to coaching and developing healthy children. It’s cool stuff.

My business will be putting out new staff training and education, which will include intellectual bravery. I thought I’d share it here first.
