When you think of conflict resolution, what comes to mind?
Last Friday I had the privilege of being invited by Unitech Leadership and Development Institute (ULDI) to facilitate a workshop for Cohort IV on bridging differences and navigating difficult conversations in leadership.
Here is what we centered the afternoon around:
Feelings are not facts, but they matter. One of the most important things we can do before entering a difficult conversation is recognize what we are feeling and get grounded. Emotional regulation is not about suppressing emotion. It is about making sure your emotion does not run the conversation for you.
We also talked about the power of curiosity over assumption. When we approach conflict with genuine questions instead of conclusions we have already drawn, everything shifts.
And we closed with shared accountability. The best outcomes in any conflict do not come from one person winning. They come from both people being willing to own their part and move forward together.
These are leaders who are building leaders every day. They deserved a real, practical conversation, and that is exactly what we had.
Thank you , Unitech Training Academy for the invitation.
