During pregnancy, a woman's brain undergoes changes that enhance her ability to connect with her baby.

These changes help her feel more empathy, allowing her to better understand what her baby needs. She becomes better at picking up on nonverbal signals and can handle her baby's crying more calmly. She will instinctively want to help soothe her baby rather than try to ignore or escape the noise.
