This girl was given a specific plan and she worked her butt off following it exactly and one month later showed so much more strength, improved control, better mechanics, more stability through her hips/core, and overall significantly decreased her risk of re injuring her left knee 🙆🏼‍♀️ (left ACL reconstruction)

Proud of you !! Left video one month after the right video

Do your knees look like this when you land? Or have you watched someone’s knees almost touch when they land? 😱 If yes, then your hip strength/stability are putting you/them at an increased risk of knee pain and injury, ACL tears probably being the most well known since 1 in every 100 female high school athletes will have an ACL injury (4-8x higher than the boys)🤯

AND 70% of ACL injuries are NON CONTACT, meaning they’re caused by our own (poor) mechanics and (lack of) control of our body, especially with deceleration movements such as cutting or landing from a jump. ⚽️🏀🏈🎾🏐🥍

The good news 👉🏻👉🏻 these things can be addressed with proper strengthening and movement training! And It’s never too early (or late😉) to start learning 🏃‍♀️💪🏼🏋🏼

That anterior tilt 😱🙅🏼‍♀️

This amount of pelvic tilt can be a major source of low back pain because of the amount of movement required for him to make that stride. Just look at the arch in the low back that is going to happen with EVERY STEP HE TAKES. That adds up.

Another common injury with this movement pattern: hamstring strains 🤦🏼‍♀️

So what do you do about it??? This is usually caused by limited hip extension so take a look at the tightness of your hip flexors 😊

“I love watching myself run in slow motion!” -said no one ever 💁🏼‍♀️

But what if it was to determine why you’re in pain while/after you run, determine your risk of injury with running, and to help diagnose where your deficits are so you could improve upon them to keep you running longer and injury free?

For , we are assessing her risk of injury with running after left ACL reconstruction and determining what areas still need work. Here’s a glimpse at part of the video analysis! 🙆🏼‍♀️😊

Look at Ana go! Recovering from an ACL reconstruction is a long process and can be insanely tough, mentally and physically 😩 and everyone’s rehab journey looks a little different, but getting proper testing to assess your movement quality/strength when you’re getting to the point of being done with PT or getting back to your sport in any capacity is SO, SO important!!

Please don’t go back to full play just because it’s been “x” amount of months…🤦🏼‍♀️

Above video: quick view at the return to sport testing for our college soccer player to determine her current risk of injury/re-injury and key areas that still need the most work.

**can also be done for injury prevention and improving upon mechanics

Allow me to re-introduce myself…

Good morning! For those new around here, I’m Renee! 👋🏼 I usually don’t know what to say about myself, so here a little about me ☺️

I grew up in Southern California where I played competitive soccer year-round from a very young age, which is where my love of maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle began. I then went out to Florida State (Go Noles) for my Bachelors in Exercise Science and then down to FIU in Miami for my Doctorate of Physical Therapy. I became a licensed PT in 2016 and can still truly say that I love what I do. I still get a little “high” whenever my patients are getting better 🤗

Im a big believer in looking at the whole person for the root cause of your pain/injury, not just one body part, and usually end up working on multiple areas one way or another to tie it all together 🤷🏼‍♀️. My patients make my day and it makes my job all the more fun since I usually see my patients more than my friends and family 🙈 (think about it…do you see your friends and family for an hour twice a week??)

On a personal note:
•I’m currently living by the beach with my husband and my pup
•I met my husband at a wedding in Mexico 🇲🇽
•I adopted my pup when I was in college at Florida State
•I’m the oldest of two
•I was a camp counselor in high school/college at a camp for children with Type 1 Diabetics (my younger sister is Type 1 Diabetic)
•my pup tore her dog-equivalent of an ACL last year (of course a PTs dog would tear their ACL 🤦🏼‍♀️). She has since fully recovered and better than ever!
•I’m a sports fan and love to watch a good game, but don’t have any particular teams I root for (except my Seminoles of course)
•I could eat tacos everyday
•I’m terrified of the ocean and spiders
•I love a good brewery/winery, coffee, tea, cheese, reading, hiking, snowboarding, and traveling whenever I can.

That means your feet contain a quarter of all the bones in your whole body! I’ll say it over and over and over again…YOUR FEET ARE IMPORTANT!

Theyre designed to be both mobile (we wouldn’t have this many bones/joints in them if they weren’t) and stabilize within all that mobility. Our feet are our first contact with the earth and the current state/abilities of our feet will affect how every other part of the body functions.

This means those pains and injuries in your knees, hips, low back, and even all the up to your shoulder and neck could be stemming from dysfunctions in your feet.

And ladies you’re at an even higher risk of this due to wearing high heels 🤦🏼‍♀️

Have you taken a closer look at your feet recently??

I don’t know how I got so lucky with co workers that I truly love, but I’m going to miss seeing your faces every single day 😭😭 (SO many not pictured)

Yesterday was my last day and they caught me by complete surprise when I walk into work and they were dressed like me (and this picture was just the ones left at the end of the night)…joggers or dark gray jeans, tall/fun socks over joggers, no shoes, f***y pack, hair up in a bun on top of their head 😂 YOU GUYS 😭😭 I didn’t realize my look was that specific 🙈🤷🏼‍♀️

LOVE YOU GUYS🤍🥰

A question I get asked ALL the time…does it really matter what order I do things in?

There is an OPTIMAL way to go about your program. Is it detrimental…no, but going in this order will optimize your movement and the benefit of your exercises!

Myofascial release: foam roll, lacrosse ball, trigger point, etc. This can also include manual work from your PT.

Mobilization: active/dynamic stretching, joint mobility work, controlled joint mobility, etc. Mobilization can also include work with your PT.

Activation exercises: your typical exercises and anything that is to encourage strengthening, stability, muscular endurance, plyometrics, power, etc.

Try and save your passive stretching for the end of your session😊

I’ve been using myofascial decompression in my own practice for the past 5+ years and if you’ve been a patient of mine or been following along for a little bit, it’s no secret that I love to use it in my treatments and that it yields some AMAZING results…when used properly 😊

Last weekend, I got the opportunity to help and ._.arriaga teach (WHAT?!) the new group of cup enthusiasts on techniques and benefits cup therapy can provide and man, was it so much fun 🙈🙆🏼‍♀️

Thank you to this group for being so gracious with my first time demonstrating in front of 30 people while trying to talk at the same time 😂🙏🏼
