Fatigue can be a powerful teacher when it’s given space.

This sequence with De West was created from that understanding. As De shares, “In our society, we don’t value rest. We tend to push past fatigue.”

Through her own experience living with autoimmune disease and moving through cancer, De began to shift her relationship with fatigue, learning to meet it with care. This 15-minute practice became an essential part of that process.

Be true to yourself when you approach an asana, curiosity to what your body is able to express on any given day! Everyday is a new opportunity to meet yourself where you are.

How to Master Downward Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana) 🧘‍♀️

Use a yoga block between the belly and thighs to learn the correct alignment for Downward Dog. Start with bent knees and spread your fingers firmly into the mat. As you lift your knees and send your hips high, gently press the belly toward the block to activate the core and lengthen the spine. Gradually straighten the legs while maintaining that engagement. Once the posture feels stable and strong, remove the block and hold the full pose with proper alignment.

Benefits:
✨ Strengthens arms, shoulders, and legs
✨ Lengthens the spine and improves posture
✨ Stretches hamstrings and calves
✨ Improves blood circulation and energizes the body

Join us at Lake Alfred Yoga, on Thursday, March 12th at 6:30 PM for Rest & Restore Yoga: a series to support down regulation of our rapid firing nervous systems!

Come practice the art of stillness to restore the body and calm the mind. With stillness of the body, the attention turns inward toward the breath. The beautiful rhythm of the breath aids to anchor the mind in the present moment inviting rest in conscious awareness, reflection and restoration .
