Pelvic floor symptoms in active women aren’t uncommon—they’re the norm.

A large study in International Urogynecology Journal found that up to 70% of recreationally active women experience symptoms like leaking, pressure, or loss of control.

The problem isn’t whether it’s happening.
The problem is that most runners are never shown how to fix it.

This course will give you practical principles and strategies to address many common pelvic floor symptoms that influence running performance.

If this sounds like you, it’s time to do something different.

💜 International Women’s Day may be one day on the calendar, but advancing women’s health is work that happens every day.

For too long, women’s health has been overlooked, minimized, or misunderstood. That’s why education, advocacy, and clinical excellence matter so much.

One of the things I’m especially proud to be part of right now is the Pelvic Scholar course — a program focused on advancing pelvic health knowledge and empowering clinicians to better support women through every stage of life. From pregnancy and postpartum recovery to pelvic pain, incontinence, and beyond, this work is about giving women the care, answers, and respect they deserve.

When we invest in education and raise the standard of care in pelvic health, we’re not just improving outcomes — we’re empowering women to understand their bodies, advocate for themselves, and live fully.

Women’s health deserves attention, expertise, and innovation — every single day. 💜

📚 Scholarly Sunday: Pelvic Floor & Low Back Pain

Did you know that pelvic floor dysfunction is present in up to 95% of people with lumbopelvic pain?
A 2018 study by Eliasson et al. found that individuals with low back pain demonstrated significantly reduced pelvic floor muscle function, suggesting the pelvic floor plays a much larger role in spinal stability than previously understood.

Why this matters:
We often think of the core as just the abs, but the pelvic floor is a critical stabilizer. When it’s underactive, overactive, or poorly coordinated, it can contribute to persistent low back or pelvic pain.

Takeaway for clinicians:
Assessing pelvic floor involvement in low back pain patients isn’t optional—it’s essential for comprehensive care.

What do you routinely screen for in your low back pain evaluations?

📚 Scholarly Sunday | Pelvic Floor & Low Back Pain

Did you know the pelvic floor isn’t just about bladder and bowel control?
It plays a huge role in lumbar and pelvic stability — and research shows a strong connection between pelvic floor dysfunction and low back pain.

A 2021 systematic review found that individuals with low back pain were significantly more likely to have pelvic floor dysfunction — and those with pelvic floor dysfunction were more likely to experience low back pain. Strength, coordination, and relaxation of this muscle group are all essential for a healthy spine and core.

✨ The pelvic floor is a key part of the core — treat it like one!

Have you ever noticed your back pain change when your pelvic symptoms improve (or vice versa)?
