Today is a beautiful reminder that caring for our planet can start with the smallest hands. Whether it’s exploring nature, planting something together, or simply playing outside, these moments help children build a lifelong connection to the world around them.

Try a simple Earth Day activity today:
🌱 Go on a nature walk and collect leaves or rocks
🌼 Talk about colors, textures, and sounds you notice
♻️ Turn everyday items into a fun sensory play activity

We're preparing fun activities for our next Sensory Playtime💜

🗓Monday, April 27th from 4:30-5:00 p.m. at the Central Library- Thielen Room for children 0-3 years old (older siblings welcome!). This program is FREE to all attendees. English-to-Spanish translation services are available.

Get down on your child’s level and join their play! When you follow their lead and talk about what they’re already interested in, you create more natural opportunities for language to grow.

Try simple phrases like:
👉 “You’re building a tower!”
👉 “Wow, it’s so tall!”

Keeping it simple, fun, and connected to their play helps children learn to communicate with confidence. 💛

📚 Free Fun Friday! 🎉

Looking for something fun, easy, and budget-friendly to do with your little one? Head to your local library! All of the Calcasieu Parish Public Library locations host free events like storytime, craft days, sensory activities, and even special themed activities for kids (and adults) of all ages😄 All of the library locations also have children's sections with books and toys that are free to play with and can be checked out with a library card.

It’s a great way to build early literacy skills, meet other families, and enjoy some screen-free fun together—without spending a dime! 💛
