Blackberry Point Haven A licensed 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (DS-546403), based in Iron Ridge, Wisconsin. Meet & greets in Hustisford & Hales Corners WI.

We’re committed to doing rescue across the U.S—always with compassion, integrity, and in full accordance with the law. With over 60 years of combined experience in veterinary medicine and competition in the horse and canine arenas, we bring a deep understanding and passion to animal care. We frequently receive calls from shelters and individuals in Wisconsin and Illinois who, after breeding their pets, realize they are unable to care for the resulting litters. When we take in these puppies, we require owners to spay and neuter the parents as a condition of surrender, and we cover the costs to ensure the breeding cycle ends. This is our commitment to responsible rescue and population control. By intervening before puppies end up in shelters, we help protect them from exposure to illnesses like parvo and other diseases common in high-volume environments. However, given our small size and limited resources, we must be selective about the cases we take on. Even so, when we cannot bring puppies into our care, we often direct families to resources and cover spay/neuter costs to make an impact beyond our walls. We recognize that our adoption fees are sometimes higher than others, but this is intentional. These fees discourage resale and ensure adopters are committed to the process. We follow conversation-based adoptions as recommended by the National No Kill Advocacy Guidelines, prioritizing thoughtful matches between pets and families. While some may have differing views, we do this because the costs of rescue often exceed adoption fees, keeping us operating at a deficit. In addition to dogs, we also foster horses, which comes with substantial expenses of its own. In 2024 we became a 501(c)3 rescue. These are crucial steps in strengthening our ability to help animals responsibly. While our preference was to stay off social media, circumstances have made it necessary to share our story more broadly. It’s worth noting that many rescues operate without licenses, which can be verified by checking your state’s licensed dog sellers list online. While a 501(c)(3) is not mandatory, a license is required to place more than 25 dogs annually in states like Wisconsin. Rescue work is as complex as it is rewarding. The animal welfare community is vast, and everyone has their own approach. Our focus is on doing what works best for us and the animals we care for. We encourage you to explore, learn, and choose what aligns with your values—no judgment here. There are many ways to help—this is ours. We may each do things differently, but together, we all play a role in making a difference.

And these two boys have had almost ZERO interest!!!

WHY!? They will probably mature to around 20 lbs. They are sweet, they are respectful and they are adorable. Up to date on all age appropriate veterinary work. Also includes a future Nueter ! THEY ARE CALM PUPS. They looked to have some sort of Jack Russell mixed in with Maybe Heeler or Australian Shepherd? Or they could probably have 20 other things. If you think you could give one of these two boys a great Home please email us info@ blackberrypointhaven.com

🐶 Pup-date from the T Litter! Adopted end of November beginning of December 🐶

We wanted to share a wonderful update from one of our adopters — the pups are doing great 💛

One of the puppies, Teako (formerly Trumpet), was recently Embarked and the results are in! While we originally thought there might be Aussie in the mix, the DNA told a different (and very fun!) story:

Teako’s DNA Results:
• 47.1% Supermutt
• Pekingese
• Labrador Retriever
• Collie
• Rat Terrier
• Beagle
• 16.5% American Eskimo Dog
• 16.3% American Pit Bull Terrier
• 5.7% Shetland Sheepdog
• 5% German Shepherd Dog
• 4.7% Chow Chow
• 4.7% Cocker Spaniel

✨ Estimated adult size: ~38 lbs

The only notable health marker that came back on Embark was ALT activity, which adopters may want to be aware of and discuss with their vet as needed.

📣 We love seeing these updates and are so grateful for our amazing adopters — thank you for sharing and for giving these pups such great lives! 🐾💚

Who’s up for some very sweet, active Australian Shepherd mix puppies?

These pups are approximately 12 weeks old and came from a working goat farm operation. They are expected to be standard Australian Shepherd size when fully grown. This is an intelligent, active breed, and these puppies truly live up to it—they are extra smart, people-oriented, and love watching you to see what’s next.

There is one boy and four girls, all with short tails.

They have been raised around goats, farm cats, other dogs, and all kinds of people, and they have been wonderful with children. These are not couch-potato dogs—they will need regular exercise, mental stimulation, and an engaged home.

Veterinary care includes:
• Certified veterinary inspection
• First round of vaccines
• F***l testing completed
• Dewormed
• Microchipped
• Future spay or neuter is included

These puppies are currently being named and will be posted on Petfinder soon, but they are available now.

Today we want to celebrate Theo and his wonderful human.

Adult dogs are often the hardest to place. Most of the adult dogs that come into our care arrive with very little history. We usually don’t know where they came from, what they’ve been through, or how long they were on their own. What we do know is that many were dumped, and that our kind friend Jim in Oklahoma stepped in—scooping them up off the streets or pulling them from high-kill shelters—giving them a second chance when time was running out.

Theo was one of those dogs.

He was adopted as an adult, and today he’s thriving in a beautiful, loving home where he is cherished exactly as he deserves. Stories like Theo’s remind us why this work matters so much.

Puppies are wonderful and joyful, but adult dogs bring something incredibly special to the table too. They’re often calmer, grateful, and so ready to bond. They just need someone willing to see past their age and say yes.

Today we celebrate Theo.
We celebrate his human.
And we celebrate every adult dog still waiting for their chance.

Because every dog—puppy or adult—deserves a happily ever after.

UPDATE- 1-5-25 BRIGGS AND BAXTOR ARE THE ONLY TWO AVAILABLE . Sometimes rescue starts with a simple ask for help.

A single dad with three kids reached out to us after his female Australian Shepherd mix unexpectedly had puppies. He loved his dog and her pups but had no idea where to turn or how to provide everything they needed. Mom and puppies were all in need of veterinary care—and honestly, some groceries too—so of course we stepped in.

We made a visit, got everyone taken care of, and we’re happy to share that mom and her puppies are healthy, happy, and thriving. These Aussie mix pups are growing into playful, affectionate little personalities and are now officially looking for their forever homes.

Each puppy has received:
• A certified veterinary inspection
• First vaccinations
• F***l testing
• Deworming
• Microchip
• An adoption fee that includes a future spay/neuter

They’ve had a great start in life and are ready for families who will continue to love and guide them.
