Dr. Wilson-King, MD FACOG, joins the Re**er MEDness The Podcast to discuss endometriosis and other cannabis-related topics alongside Trevor Shewfelt, B.Sc., B.Sc. Pharm., CRE, and Kirk Nyquist, RN, BSN, MA.

Check out the episode description and link below!

“Pop quiz! Name a condition that costs $2.5 Billion to the Canadian health care system per year, that causes 1 in 5 sufferers to lose or quit a job at some point during their life because of the disease, and that 8 in 10 people with the disease were initially told their pain was normal before diagnosis? Welcome to the under-appreciated suffering of those people who have endometriosis. Dr. Genester Wilson-King MD FACOG, founder and Medical Director of Victory Rejuvenation Center, is a Board-Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist with over 25 years of Clinical experience. We would have loved to pick her brain on Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement, Premenstrual Syndrome, breast-feeding cannabis and so many other topics, but we don’t have a 14-hour podcast. We had Dr. Wilson-King review for us the causes and symptoms of endometriosis, how it is treated, and how cannabis fits into the picture. She dropped bombshells on us like: Did you know endometriosis can affect such disparate tissues as the lung and the brain? Our brains are still spinning, and you should strap in and listen.”

Addressing opioid-related challenges, cannabis emerges as a potential ally in treating addiction, where opioids may suppress testosterone production in men. When managing hypogonadism resulting from opioid addiction, age becomes a crucial factor in determining the most effective treatment approach. For individuals under 40, options like Clomid or HCG can stimulate Sertoli and Leydig cells to increase testosterone, while those 50 and older may consider testosterone supplementation if natural production doesn't resume. Join Genester Wilson-King, MD FACOG over on YouTube to learn more about the relationship between THC and managing opioid dependence.

We welcome CannMed 24 speaker, Genester Wilson-King, MD FACOG a Board-Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist with over 20 years of clinical experience providing compassionate and research-driven care to patients. In 2010, she founded Victory Rejuvenation Center (VRC), a private holistic and integrative wellness medicine practice that provides life-transforming management modalities and customized medicines to patients.

In her presentation, she will discuss “Endometriosis: A Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency Condition?” At .

Endometriosis is a disease that affects women and those assigned female at birth. It can occur in adolescents, postmenopausal people and all ethnicities, races, or color. It’s prevalence is 10 to 15%; it is probably toward the 15% or higher if one includes the aforementioned populations. Endometriosis peaks in prevalence at ages 25 to 35, although with increasing awareness of the disease, these patients are presenting at earlier ages, as early as adolescence. However, people still have a diagnosis delay of 4-11 years. It is a disease that can impact the entire support system.

This talk will describe endometriosis and its clinical signs and symptoms. The etiology is unclear at this time and our current conventional treatment modalities are mediocre at best. It has been postulated to fit the theory of clinical endocannabinoid deficiency condition (CED). What is a CED? Is endometriosis a CED condition? What does the literature say or suggest? Is cannabis uniquely suited to treat the many aspects of it? Let’s take a walk through the literature and see!

Did you know that 1 in 10 women report that cannabis eases the pain associated with endometriosis?

As a chronic inflammatory condition, endometriosis causes pain and discomfort throughout the body. Cannabis may ease pain via cannabinoid receptors and its anti-inflammatory properties. It could also help to regulate other symptoms of endometriosis, such as the psychological impacts of the disease. Many women are turning to cannabis as a natural alternative to the typically prescribed conventional medications. Schedule a consultation with the Victory Rejuvenation Center to learn more about our cannabis program and how it may help you manage your endometriosis. Link below.
