I was inspired and amazed by the determination this mother had for a more empowering birth experience. With this being her second homebirth with me, she wanted to stay on top of the surges and be more in control of her body and this is just what she did. I witnessed the research and discoveries she made on how to achieve her goal ! As the baby started crowning, she was telling her birth team all that was happening. "Ok baby is crowing, now head is out, here come the shoulders". Dad helped catch this sweet little guy but wow how mom took control over her mental and emotional body during this birth. I am truly in awe! And thank you Erica Kratt Photography for capturing this sacred moment!

I was gifted with this beautiful Christmas Eve birth!

After being called by the family at 115 am, I made my arrival to their home around 230am. Thinking she was not “active“ enough because she sounded way too calm, I decided to not call an assistant yet (this was also a first birth and they are often a longer labor). This clients mother and I, who also happens to be Doula Debra, decided to do some rebozo work with her because the baby seemed to be in the posterior position and this technique can help turn a baby to the anterior position. Well, it worked! Labor change quickly to feelings of intense pressure, along with closer/stronger contractions.

This sweet little one arrived by 430am caught by her gramma then into the loving arms of mom and dad!

Sometimes when the midwife arrives the body has an easier time relaxing and can quicken the process. This happened during this labor. When I arrived contractors were not “that” bad. A few contractions later the intensity ramped up. I was filing the pool on the warmer side (or very hot) because I assumed we had waaayyyy much more time I figured at least 3-4 hours. Oh crap was I wrong. Only an hour passed before mom said I need to get in the pool right now. Several contractions she could feel the baby’s head. Mom and dad caught this little one together and he was all wrapped up in his amniotic sac which never broke! Baby’s born en caul are considered to be very rare, however homebirth midwives have a much higher rate of en caul births! Thanks so much to this family for sharing your pictures with us!! ❤️❤️❤️

Midwifery care is way more than just medical care. It is a relationship you develop with families. With this couple It was with the entire extended family that made an impact on my life! I miss all of the families that I become so intimate with during this special time in their lives 🤗

I'm beginning to realize that I need to keep my own expectations in check when i am at a birth. My ego was invested in having this momma birth a certian way. Well, instead it was an all hands on deck kinda birth but it was exactly was what it needed to be with the dream team to support it, and that is just perfect!
