For those of you wondering what is fascia and why should I care? And what are all these posts you’re doing about MELT? Here’s a concise explainer reel from .

MELT Method and restoring hydration and resilience to my fascia has completely transformed my post-hysterectomy body.

For me it was THE key ingredient in my recovery and being able to restore connective tissue integrity and communication so my core functioned properly again.

Or as close to properly as my scar tissue will allow me to get. Given that my hysterectomy was 14 years ago, regaining any core communication and integration after all that time is freakin’ brilliant!

And it really helped to minimize the impact from my more recent oophorectomy three years ago. Was it three? Maybe it’s four. I loose track of these things. Anyway it’s great!

It has also been instrumental in healing old knee and ankle injuries, enabling me to build strength again without pain so that I’m well on my way to being able to do things physically I haven’t been able to do in 20 years.

It made such a huge impact for me that I trained to become an instructor so that others could also learn it and gain benefits. After all why keep these benefits just to myself?! 😉

If you’re curious about how MELT could help you, how fascia relates to cancer recovery or about my Saturday online classes DM me.

It’s warm enough - and dry enough - to sit outside and write this morning. Balm on my soul.

Spending some time outside as the sun rises over the mountain brings me peace.

Pepper and I play for a time, I write, plan my day, sometimes read, and bask in the beauty that is my home and am grateful.

Grateful that despite all of the things and accomplishments that I have yet to achieve, I have accomplished so much in my life. Where I am now on this beautiful piece of meadowland in the mountains near a lake and hiking and surrounded by friends who love me is what I wanted. For years.

Especially after my first cancer diagnosis, moving out of the city and into the country became a priority. Because of livelihood fears it took a few more years for me to get here, but I did it. Nothing like a cancer diagnosis to put your life in perspective and help you really focus on what is important to you and healing for you. Healing for your whole being, not just your cancer.

So sitting outside in the sun and fresh air with this view reminds me to be grateful for what I have. For what I had prioritized and created and also have been blessed with. Because let’s be frank there has been a fair amount of privilege that has enabled me to get to this point. That helped me to be in places and situations that made it easier for me to be able take advantage of the blessings.

Sitting outside in gratitude also reminds me that since I’ve realized this goal, I can realize others. This helping to counter the negative hopelessness that often accompanies depression.

Later I’ll continue work on my mid-winter project of cleaning out and reorganizing/ redecorating the inside of my home so I’m as inspired and gratitude filled by the inside as the outside. Basically I’ve got too much crap and not enough places to put it. I love ’s method for helping with this.

This is salmon grown from cells in a lab. So is it fish? I’m thinking it doesn’t have a nervous system since it’s grown from a few cells. So does that then mean it isn’t alive like an actual living, breathing, can feel suffering animal? Is it therefore not then killed with the moral weight of that? Is it vegan fish?

I wrote a bit about this on my other page as well.

As someone who for moral reasons would prefer to be 100% vegan but for health reasons has not been able to sustain that I find this fish solution very intriguing. Especially if the nutritional profile and health benefits for humans is the same as with wild caught salmon.

What do you all think about this? Could this potentially be a good solution to overfishing and the ecological disaster that is usually the case with fish farms? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this in the comments.

Yours in health and healing,
Mariette

P.S. those health reasons include my not being able to thrive on a diet with 100% plant-based protein sources. I’ve tried but it has never worked for me long term, although I know there are many others for whom it works. We’re all different.

Posted • This salmon is not 🚫 farm-raised, 🚫 plant-based, or 🚫 wild-caught. It's 100% Wildtype salmon. And we'll be telling you more about what cultivated salmon means for you, for salmon, and for the ocean. Thanks for following our journey 🧜‍♀️

Did you know there is a whole lost generation of women over 30 who have been living with undiagnosed ADHD? Turns out I’m one of them. Who knew?

So much of the prior 40 years made more sense once I began drilling into what having ADHD meant.

You may be wondering. Why is she talking about ADHD when she’s a cancer coach? Bear with me, it’s all connected.

I was diagnosed with ADHD 3 years ago but I was focused on therapy for my depression so didn’t take it very seriously. And then I was diagnosed with my second cancer (ovarian) a couple months later. Guess which condition took precedence?

The cancer was stage 1, I was treated and now am NED.

In digging deeper into my emotional healing as part of my cancer recover, the ADHD came back up and I began to learn about it and what I need to do to manage it. I also learned that the ADHD was inextricably linked to my lifelong depression and anxiety and so many of the issues in my life that had left me so unhappy and feeling unfulfilled. It’s been a super messy process.

It’s akin to cleaning out my closets, where everything becomes much messier and all unraveled before i can put it back together and it gets better.

In the meantime focusing on work has become difficult. This too shall pass. I keep telling myself that as I develop skills for managing my ADHD pressure points and work more with my strengths my ability to prioritize, focus and motivation will improve (as well my depression and anxiety.)

I can only focus on so much at one time. Huh, I guess I can prioritize after all.

Yours in health and healing,
Mariette

I have always felt better when I drink green juice first thing. Have I done it every morning of my life since learning this? No. I’m no more perfect than the next person. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Drinking green veggie juice is a great way to get additional nutrients. So it’s a great supplement to a healthy diet, especially those of us who’ve had or have cancer.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For many years I had an all-or-nothing mindset and tried to juice fresh daily. When I couldn’t juice fresh then I didn’t have juice. There’s a lot of people who say that you should only juice fresh and not use powders. This is a very privileged position and doesn’t work for most people long-term. Most of us don’t have someone helping us clean up or organize our life.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I was great at fresh juicing after my cancer diagnoses when I was in full-on hyperfocused healing mode. Once I came out of cancer hyperfocus, then it was one thing too many. I needed to reprioritize my mornings because there were other things (like longer mediation, exercise, writing, and work) that I needed to add back into my routine that I had been neglecting. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Eventually, I realized I can only focus on a limited number of things and tasks take longer for me because I’m easily distracted and forgetful. I struggled for a while, beating myself up for not being a perfect thriver (whatever that means,) it wasn’t until I was diagnosed with ADHD that I realized I needed to radically simplify my life.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, since I feel better when I drink green juice daily, and I’m not able to juice fresh every day, then green powders are great! And surprise, surprise I am now drinking green juice nearly every morning and I feel much better.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So don’t dismiss green drink powders as an option because they aren’t as perfect as juicing fresh. Don’t let perfect be the enemy of the good. Drink your juice in whatever way fits your life, as often as you can. That’s good enough.

Have a Gynecologic cancer? Get a gynecologic oncologist. I tell people this one all the time. It’s absolutely crucial.

This is harder in rural areas and may feel like an added stressor to travel to the city to get treated but do it! I’ve had clients tell me that their local oncologist seems fine and is nice and trying to find another doctor feels like too much.

I get it. But this one step of seeing and being treated by a specialist is one of the most important steps you can take. After all, how much of a stressor will it be if you don’t get the expertise that your cancer requires?

I emphasize this not to scare people but to encourage them to get the best care they can so they can have the best outcome possible.

Thanks For this great post. •

A gynecologic oncologist is someone who specializes in treating patients with reproductive tract cancers. Research has shown that there are significant survival advantages for ovarian cancer patients when their initial surgeries are performed by gynecologic oncologists. These doctors are initially trained as obstetrician/gynecologists (OB/GYNs) and then undergo specialized education in the biology and pathology of gynecologic cancers.
