I have special training on working with the military and completed my dissertation on military families resiliency during deployments. I have special training on trauma and PTSD, child/parenting problems, problem gambling, domestic violence, sexual assault/abuse, and more. I also have special training in research-based therapeutic approaches for trauma, crises, victims of crime, depression, childhood problems, early child problems (0-5), and anxiety. I have over 10 years experience working with foster families, adoptive families, children, couples, military families, and adults. I'm also a college instructor, teaching a variety of classes in psychology. Additionally, I served in the US Air Force for over 20 years, so I have keen insight into the military lifestyle. I have given lectures to a variety of professional groups, such the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, the US Air Force, and community mental health agencies on topics such as working with the military, crisis intervention, stress and anxiety, behavioral interventions, and parenting.
