WASHINGTON (ABC7/ WJLA)The cannabis derivative, CBD, is popping-up everywhere - in lip balm, body cream and even as a shot in your morning espresso. But not all CBD is created equal. Hello everyone, it's learnin' time.
How many senses do you have? Not cents. Sense.
O.K. name them...time's up.
Sight (I can't see not using this one)
Smell (what stinks?)
Touch (feelings, nothing more than feelings)
Taste (yum or yuck)
Hearing (say what?)

But wait, there's more...
Proprioception (space, the new frontier)
Nocioception (this is gonna hurt me more than it hurts you)
Equilibrium (remember your last DUI checkpoint)
Thermoception (the temperature around your body)
Temporal Perception (where did the time go?)
and last but not least..
Common (sometimes not so much)

Until next time, straighten up!

How many mountaintop experiences have we missed because of fear? Probably too many to even count.

The objective of the enemy is to steal, kill or destroy. Is he winning?

Steal -Taking away our peace, sabotaging our joy and confiscating our future.

Kill - Neutralizing our enthusiasm, murdering our trust and slaying our hope.

Destroy - Ruining our relationships, poisoning our passion and corrupting our courage.

Fear is both an emotional charge and a spiritual attack. The former attacks our body, the latter our soul. The enemy knows that either one will constrain us or prompt us to delay, defer and play small and think small.

Success without even firing a shot. All because of being seduced by a deception with just enough sugar-coated truth to get us to buy the lie.

Remember, the opposite of fear isn't courage, it is faith. Faith in a God that created you and wants His best for you.

Live as if no one can stop you. No one will.

Thursday learnin' time...
It's time to take a HIIT. (No, not that kind). I'm talking about High-Intensity Interval Training. It is a good way to burn that stuff around your waist, (No, not your f***y pack), I'm talkin' FAT. HIIT alternates between very strenuous bursts of activity and less-intense recovery times. Danish researchers (you know, the guys who created all those pastries) tested a formula called 10-20-30 on a group of recreational runners (who does that for recreation?). Despite cutting their total workout time in half, the group lowered their blood pressure and cholesterol and shaved time off their 5K results in just 7 weeks! So try it. 30 seconds of gentle running, then 20 seconds at a moderate pace, and then 10 seconds of full-out effort, for a total of one minute.Do three sets of five minutes (with a 2 minute rest between each set) and you will have done a great cardio workout in just 20 minutes. And BTW, if you don't run, this also works with walking, so no excuses. Interesting side story, my grandfather started walking when he was 74 years old. He is now 92 years old and we have no idea where he is!

Well, it's Thursday, lets do some learnin'...
Did you know that you can burn calories when you are chilly? (not the South American country) Yes, that is a cold hard fact. Researchers in Sweden (where else, it's cold there) discovered that when you shiver from the cold, it converts energy-storing white fat into calorie-burning brown fat. Who knew that there were different colors? Now you do. Anyway, shivering for about 10-15 minutes had similar hormonal effects as an hour of moderate exercise. So, now you have another option if you don't like to work out. A) move to the North Pole. B) move to the South Pole. C) be bipolar and spend six months at each pole. D) stand for 15 minutes every day in your grocery freezer aisle wearing only your bathing suit (clean-up in aisle 7). Given these choices, I think I will work out. Maybe in my bathing suit.

Good Thursday evening everyone.
Tip of the Day...
Did you know that you can reshape your brain through meditation? (Except maybe not the Scarecrow). MRI scans of the hippocampus, (not a weight loss retreat for large African animals), the part of the brain in charge of learning and memory, reveal that it can THICKEN after only a couple of months of mindful meditation. Who doesn't want a buffer-looking brain! Yes please. Brain-cell density can also DECREASE in the amygdala (I think I used to date her), the part of the brain responsible for fear, anxiety and stress. Those physical changes can alter your mood. So more relaxing meditation please. Remember, don't always be looking back unless you plan on going there. And smile at everyone. They will either smile back or think you are a litte crazy, but smile anyway. They may be right!

Happy Tuesday!
Today's tip of the day...
Please don't look down at your phone. Really.
Would you hang four bowling balls from your neck? Stupid question? Duh, but consider this: Sixty pounds is the same amount of force exerted on your wonderful neck when you tilt your head forward at about a 60-degree angle to text or email from your phone, and you may be doing this for up to four hours a day! Yikes. If you love your neck and hate neck/shoulder pain, bring your phone up to your line of sight. Your cervical spine will love you for it!
