Over the counter antacids and acid reducers are said to be safe during pregnancy, BUT I say avoid them because they have the potential to destroy your natural microbiome.

No one is home… the sun is going down… and I have dinner on the stove. Time to just take in the end of the day.

Sometimes you lose your appetite in pregnancy, and you just don't want to eat. This is not good for you or baby though.
Eating often helps with insulin regulation.
Eating enough helps with growth and development of the fetus.
BUT did you know that when someone skips meals and does not get enough nutrition there is a link to many other complications during pregnancy?
Eating is essential, eating well is how we thrive.
Tips for getting in more food and increasing your appetite.
1: start with a morning glass of water with lemon. This helps activate your digestion after fasting all night.
2: Drink your breakfast. Yes! Have a smoothie for breakfast instead of a solid meal. This will help you get the calories and nutrient's you need.
3: Eat small high fat and high protein snacks instead of full meals.
So true though.
I routinely hear how Mommies have a hard time staying on track with their supplements during early pregnancy because it makes them nauseous.
My proven 3 tips for for getting back on track
1: Take your vitamins at night before bed instead of in the AM. Your tummy is too sensitive in the AM before breakfast for vitamins. Try at night when all the digestive enzymes have been flowing for the day.
2: Take a vitamin that comes in split up doses. Instead of a one a day, get the vitamin that is split into 3x a day or maybe even more. This helps with absorption as well. Alot of higher quality vitamins come in multi-dose versions.
3: Take a food-based vitamin not a chemical derived version. I mean, is your supplement made from food? Your body will better assimilate the food-based supplements then the synthetic lab concocted ones. These are gentler on the tummy.

Salad in a Jar..???
Best kept secret IMO. You can make ahead 6/7 salads, pack them in 32 oz mason jars, and they stay fresh all week!
This is a meal prep hack that I use all the time. Its great because you can spend maybe 20-30 minutes making salads for the whole week. Grab these to take to the park, work, or your Midwife appointments...hehe
I'm in love with this recipe below:
Greek Salad:
Cucumber
Cherry tomato
Red onion
Black olives
Artichokes
Balsamic dressing
2 cups fresh greens
Feta
Avocado
Tips:
I make a huge batch of the cup up vegis, tomatoes, cucumbers, onion, olives, artichokes. Then cover it in balsamic dressing. Then put about 1 cup of this mix in the bottom of the jar. Stuff 2 cups of greens on top. Add the cheese and avocado last on top. YES, the avocado will stay fresh for a days as well, I have experimented with this. Use the canning tops and close the jar. For extra freshness you can vacuum seal if you have a vacuum sealer.
When you're ready to eat, just pour into a bowl...done. The vegis will have marinated in the dressing and will be amazing!

Make double or even triple servings of dinners and freeze the rest for quick dinners later in the month.
