Things I don’t fight with my 92-year-old mother about anymore.
Rice-A-Roni.
Her nonstick pot.
She eats pork here and there.
Boy, I had to grow into that.
Yes, 90% of our food comes from the farmers' market, and yes, I still pay attention. But at 92, I also had to reach that f**k it, do what you want stage because my peace matters too.
Our household was never built on processed food all day, every day. Most of what we eat is still home-cooked meals, balance, real ingredients, movement, laughter, and family.
But constantly telling elders:
Don’t eat this
don’t do that
You can’t have this; it creates friction. And eventually somebody gonna end up with high blood pressure, and it probably won’t be them.
So now? I move a little quieter in love ❤️
Because longevity is more than one ingredient.
It’s food, yes, but it’s also peace, purpose, movement, joy, community, and a healthy nervous system too.
One day, the candle will go out, but the lived wisdom passed through this journey is worth more than people realize.
Some lessons are not learned in clinics or online; they’re learned at home, beside our elders. 💜
