One of the most common questions we get at PartnerMD is about health insurance. How does it work with concierge medicine? Here are three things to know.

1. Your health insurance will work the same way at a concierge medicine practice as it does at a traditional primary care practice.

2. Your health insurance does not cover the concierge medicine membership fee.

3. Some concierge practices accept Medicare, but some do not. Most concierge practices do not accept Medicaid.

The important thing to understand about concierge medicine and insurance is that, in most cases, it works the same as it does at traditional practices.

A new study looks at the value of the Mediterranean diet — and the Mediterranean lifestyle — for people living elsewhere, in this case, the United Kingdom.

The study finds that higher adherence to the Mediterranean diet and lifestyle is associated with a 29% lower risk of all-cause mortality and a 28% lower risk of cancer compared to people who least follow the diet and lifestyle.

A new study suggests that following a Mediterranean-type diet and, even more importantly, adopting a Mediterranean lifestyle is associated with a lower risk of cancer and all-cause mortality.

Are we big believers in concierge care? Absolutely. But we also want to talk openly about its pros, but also its cons, so you’re sure you’re making the right healthcare choice for you.

We want patients to have a clear understanding of the pros and cons of concierge medicine. Read this blog for the bad, the good, and the in between.

At PartnerMD, we include coordination of specialist care as a part of your membership. What does that mean? How does it work?

In short, we have a team of referral coordinators that handle everything from scheduling appointments to sending over medical records to making sure the results get back to your P*P. It's how we serve as the quarterback of your care.

As part of your concierge medicine membership, PartnerMD provides what we call coordination of specialist care. It's part of how we quarterback your care.

If you don't sleep enough during the week, is it enough to just "catch up" on the weekends?

A small study in healthy young men suggests that playing 'catch-up' on sleep at weekends does not make up for the impact that work week sleep loss has on cardiovascular health.

Fresh fruits and vegetables should be a staple of your diet. What healthy fall foods should you use this fall?

A seasonal food is produce that is purchased and eaten around the time it’s harvested. “We know that produce that is purchased in season is more likely to be fresher, consumed closer to harvesting and higher in nutritional value,” one expert tells us.

You're healthy. Why would you switch to a concierge doctor? Here are five benefits of switching to a concierge doctor, even if you're healthy.

1. They are available when you need them.
2. They have the time to provide preventive care for lifelong health.
3. They can help you identify risks in advance.
4. Your entire family can see one doctor (and get a nice price break).
5. They are like insurance. Don’t wait until you need them to get on board.

Should you pay for concierge medicine if you're young and healthy? Here's how the benefits of concierge medicine apply to healthy patients, too.

When it comes to cognitive health, we know sleep is crucial. We also know exercising is important, too. But what about one versus the other?

"In a new study, researchers discovered people with more frequent, higher-intensity physical activity who slept less than six hours a night on average had faster overall cognitive decline than short sleepers who exercised infrequently."

Physical exercise is good for cognitive health, but a new study finds that if it’s combined with poor sleep, those benefits may disappear.

It's estimated that nearly a third of Americans do not have a primary care physician and about 20% of people haven't been to a doctor in more than five years.

But maybe you've decided to change that. What should you do if you've recently decided to make your health a priority?

What should you focus on if you're going to the doctor for the first time in years? Here are four ideas.

A new study adds to the large body of evidence that being in good physical shape can dramatically reduce cancer risk.

The study, published Tuesday in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, found that men with high levels of cardiorespiratory fitness in young adulthood had a lower risk of developing nine forms of cancer years later, including in the head and the neck, the lungs, the kidneys and the gastrointestinal system.

People at high fitness levels had an especially sizable reduction in their risk of gastrointestinal cancers, the research showed.

Looking for a new exercise to incorporate into your workouts? How about a wall squat?

One recent study found that isometric exercise, such as wall squats, was the most effective at reducing blood pressure.

"It reduced systolic blood pressure (the upper number of the reading) by 8 points and diastolic blood pressure (the lower number) by 4 points, the authors write."

Physical activity can lower blood pressure without medication.

As a board-certified internal medicine physician in Sandy Springs, Dr. Rakesh Sarma integrates traditional medicine, functional medicine, and holistic medicine to deliver customized care for every patient.

"To me, a person’s health cannot be boiled down to a pharmaceutical solution or a supplement solution alone," Dr. Sarma says. "People aren’t just biochemical processes waiting to be adjusted. My goal is to help patients understand their health and help them find the right strategy to achieve their goals."

As a board-certified internist in Owings Mills, MD, Dr. Eric J. Carr works with his patients primarily to prevent illnesses from occurring in the first place.

“Prevention has to be a big part of everyone’s medical care,” Dr. Carr says. “Once a health issue develops and becomes more advanced, it’s much more difficult to treat and get under control. Working together to prevent medical problems from developing leads to longer and more productive lives.”

You're searching for a primary care physician. You find one you think you'll like. And then you also find out they are not accepting new patients. Many of our physicians at PartnerMD are in that category.

As a patient, we know it can be frustrating. Why does it happen? Here are three of the most likely scenarios.

If you're searching for a new primary care physician, you may run into a situation where it seems like every doctor is not accepting new patients. Why?
