Moving a loved one to a senior living community can feel like a lot to manage. Knowing what to bring, what to leave at home and the small details that make the first few days feel familiar and comfortable is so important. These can be anything from clothing and key documents to the personal items that help a new space feel like home.

Moving a loved one to a senior living community takes thoughtful preparation. A practical guide to what to pack, what to leave behind and what helps most.

Our “Dancing Under the Stars” Senior Prom was everything we hoped it would be and more! ✨

Residents spent the week getting ready for the big night by picking out their prom outfits and getting excited for an evening full of music, dancing, photos and fun. Before prom started, LaDee-Da Kids Spa Clearwater helped everyone feel extra special with hair and makeup services, and the glam absolutely delivered. 💄✨

Once the music started, the dance floor stayed full all night. Residents enjoyed live entertainment by The Divonichi Duo, thanks to Hunt Talent LLC, hors d’oeuvres, drinks, limo rides with Estelle Limo & Party Bus, horoscope readings and celebrating together under the lights. There was so much laughter, singing, dancing and so many sweet moments throughout the evening.

The most magical part of the night was the walk down memory lane. Residents shared photos from their own prom and high school days, telling stories, reminiscing with friends and showing off memories from years past. We also surprised everyone with a Cypress Palms “yearbook” filled with highlights and memories from this past year.

And of course, congratulations to our Prom King Dwight 👑 and Prom Queen Sharon 👑, a well-deserved win for two of our favorite stars of the night!

Huge thank you to everyone who helped make the evening so memorable, and a special shoutout to FirstLight Home Care and Empath Health for partnering to sponsor a gift basket raffle at the end of the night!

Another huge shoutout to our Pearls of Life® neighborhood for creating beautiful handmade corsages to hand out throughout the evening, and to our amazing high school volunteers for spending the night supporting our residents while going through prom season themselves. It made the night even more meaningful seeing generations celebrate together. ✨

That’s a wrap on “Dancing Under the Stars,” great energy, great people and a night that delivered from start to finish! ⭐🌙

What a wonderful day we had last month at The Ringling Museum in Sarasota! From wandering through the Circus Museum and art galleries to enjoying a laid-back picnic together, it was the kind of day everyone kept smiling about long after we got back.

It was especially memorable thinking about the lasting impact of John and Mable Ringling, whose vision helped shape Sarasota into the cultural gem it is today. Residents loved sharing memories of the circus days gone by, and we even had a few personal connections come up—like Nancy S.’s son who was actually a clown with the Ringling Circus! Lots of laughs, stories and smiles all around. Where should we go next!?

Thirty years, three celebrations: This spring, Cypress Palms and The Learning Center marked 30 years, alongside the 10th anniversary of Rock Steady Boxing at The Palms of Largo.

The Platinum & Pearls Cocktail Reception brought together community partners, fellow regional teams, local commissioners and friends of this campus for an evening that felt less like a professional event and more like a reunion of people who genuinely wanted to be here.

The Anniversary Dinner was the heart of it. Residents, families and longtime team members filled the room for a four-course evening that included the premiere of our documentary legacy video and a full tenure recognition program.

That night, we recognized 30 team members collectively representing more than 600 years of service to this community. Honorees ranged from 10 to 32 years, with special recognition going to Carolyn F., who received the Legacy Award for 32 years of service. Two surprise specialty awards closed the evening: Mary W. received The Catalyst Award, and Peter S. received the Heart of Operations Award.

The Team Town Hall made sure every person who is part of this community had the opportunity to be included in the milestone celebration.

If you could not join us, our anniversary documentary is available to watch now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8bjH2-Oo0E&t=25s

Thirty years is built one day at a time. Thank you for being part of it!

💙 Celebrating the hearts behind our community 💙

The Palms of Largo was thrilled to honor more than 80 volunteers at our Volunteer Appreciation Lunch last month. Our volunteers do so much for our residents and communities, and this luncheon was a small way to say thank you for their time, kindness and dedication throughout the year.

Thank you to Royal Palms for hosting and serving a wonderful lunch for everyone to enjoy. We appreciate all who continue to make a difference at each of our communities every day. Thank you, volunteers!

Ron and Connie spent 58 years building a life together before memory loss changed their relationship. Our blog shares their family's journey to finding memory care at Autumn Glen Senior Living, a community managed by The Goodman Group. Through their daughter Tammy's perspective, we see how choosing the right community allowed Connie to be Ron's wife again rather than his sole caregiver, and how Ron found a place that truly feels like home.

Ron and Connie had been married 58 years when memory loss changed everything. Their family's decision to choose memory care helped everyone find home.

Team Member of the Month: Joy! Joy, a dedicated server in our dining services department, has been part of our team since 2021, joining us each year as a seasonal “snowbird” from Buffalo, NY, from November through May.

A retired elementary school teacher of 35 years, teaching kindergarten through second grade, Joy brings warmth, flexibility and a true servant’s heart to Cypress Palms every year. Residents adore her, and the team always looks forward to her return each season alongside her husband and their 9-year-old Shiba Inu, Gator.

Angie, dining room supervisor, shared, “She is a wonderful person and can work on any floor you put her on. The residents love her, and we will miss her when she leaves us!”

In her spare time, Joy enjoys golfing and reading, and she stays connected as a member of our Team Member Platinum Readers Book Club, even joining meetings virtually when she’s back in New York.

Congratulations, Joy, and thank you for being your awesome self. You are a true example of Platinum Service®!
