Meditation is really and interplay of energy and attention.
Meditation is probably one of the healthiest, safest, most timely and most regenerative practices you can undertake.
As it is very healthy for your mind and body, the deep relaxation that comes with practice lowers your blood pressure, eases muscle strain and releases tension from your body.
Psychologically, meditation teaches you tolerance and compassion, and improves your general behavior by making you keenly aware of your thoughts and feelings before you act on them. It also strengthens your concentration, enabling you to focus more clearly.
1. Relax ~ Unwind the muscles and become physically quiet. A relaxed body is unrestrained and loose. Relaxing can be accomplished by directly addressing individual muscles, telling them to release, relax and let go. This gives them permission to soften, and the body then becomes almost separate from the mind.
2. Center~ Focus on the breathing cycle of developing the capacity to witness the mind without getting lost in it. After your body is quiet and composed, begin mentally centering yourself. A centered mind is aware, alert and focused on one thing. Centering is the core of meditation.
3. Enhance~ Visualize goals, focus on patience and forgiveness. Creative visualization involves imagining certain states of consciousness, physical events or physical conditions in your minds eye. The key to effective visualization is mentally use all the physical senses. Whatever you are visualizing try to see, feel, taste, hear and touch it. Make it real, tangible. Feel the emotions that go with the experience such as joy, confidence, relief, peace.
4. Release~ Return to waking consciousness and reinforce the meditative experience. You’re more likely to meditate regularly if you reinforce the positive aspects… but what if the meditation seemed boring, frustrating or otherwise low on the profit margin? Well, the fact that you took time to do it demonstrates resolve and willingness. If you were distracted during the experience, then you practiced remaining compassionate in spite of your restless mental state.
May your practice be as beautiful as your heart. Jai ma!
