Almost EVERY pose can be done in a chair, in multiple ways. Here are just a few examples of the Warrior series. There is no one pose to fit all. Yoga is for all: those who are flexible and inflexible, those with wide, limited, or zero range of motion, those with many years of experience and those with none, those in older bodies and larger bodies. Some days your bird of paradise is on point, and some days you use a chair or the wall or blocks. It doesn't mean it's good or bad or you've failed. It fluctuates. Go with the flow.
Image description: all photos are in a studio, wood floor, gray wall with a light in the upper left corner and a fake tree in the right corner of the background. Jamie is wearing a black t shirt and black/brown leggings, each image is a different pose using a black chair: seated one leg mountain, seated warrior 1 and 2, standing warrior 3 with chair support, 2 variations using the back and seat of chair.

When your dog is the star of the show ✨️
Haven't been able to post reels because my phone storage wouldn't allow me to edit and it was too much to unload onto my computer and Instagram wouldn't let me edit it either 🙃
But I got this awesome little phone to computer flash drive and we're back 🙌
Image description: 5 photos show Jamie, in her usual brown sweats, cropped ivy t shirt, sitting on her mat, in her "studio" aka her dining room. Diego, her corgi, is all over, behind her, next to her, face in the corner of the photo or butt.

Day 8: what will you do differently? - yogis choice

This year has been so crazy. Busy. Crazy busy. It hasn't really slowed down, I've just gotten better at managing it 🤣 So moving forward, I want to bring my focus back to my studies. Not just my 300hr YTT, but my formal education as well. I'm actually looking forward to the new year and have a good feeling about it! Pose: 3-legged down dog

Lots of love and appreciation to the hosts! This was my first challenge and I really enjoyed the prompts. It kept me busy and was surprisingly therapeutic! Ill definitely be back for another one. Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement 🙏

Day 7: What do you need to stop doing? - any meditative pose

Worrying. Worrying about what people think about me using a wheelchair and accessible parking. Yes, I'm a yoga teacher AND an ambulatory wheelchair user. If you truly know what yoga is, then it shouldn't be that hard to understand how the two can come together. But I need to stop giving the side eyes and snarky comments my energy. Pose: Sukhasana

Day 6: What do you need to do more of? - any balancing pose

Meditation and manifestation. I need more discipline when it comes to my personal practice. I have a routine but I need to execute it everyday. Pose: warrior 3

Day 5: What regrets do you have? - any inversion

Honestly, my biggest regret this year was all the people I felt I let down. Its always a challenge to do whats best for me when it means letting someone down. But I’m getting better at voicing my needs and boundaries.

Day 4: Where did you succeed?- Any backbend

I used to be able to bend in half backwards from mountain pose… when I was 16! I still enjoy the sensation but come into it from a reclined position these days! 2023 had little successes here and there. But keeping my personal practice going when my class load dropped to practically zero after the move, and after everything else, was my biggest success.

Jamie is in a backbend on her mat, at home, the wall behind her has a counter and cabinets, to the left, a small bookshelf with various notebooks, at the bottom of the bookshelf, just behind her feet, stands Diego, her dog, a tan and white corgi. Looking quite unamused.

Day 3: What did you enjoy most? - Any twist
“Enjoyable” wouldn't be on the list of adjectives to describe this year. So I really had to reflect on the last 12 months. But there's one instance that truly stands out; taking our Phx friends Downtown LV and using my chair in a very crowded, chaotic place for the first time (Fremont St. on a Saturday night!) and having an absolute blast! Thanks you my dear friends 🥰🙏
My twisty pose today, although not a thoracic twist, is a variation of Gomukhasana, cow face pose 🐄

Day 2: What are you grateful for? Any heart opener.

This one was easy and I'm sure you guessed it... I'm grateful for my husband! And it's his birthday today! AND AND he took this picture! 🤣 Thank you for always supporting me, not just during the hard times, but every minute of every day.

After being gone for so long, I thought trying out a yoga challenge would encourage me to push forward. I might be late or miss a day but I'm trying not to put too much pressure on myself. I thought this challenge was perfect to start with:

Day 1: What are you proud of? Any standing pose.
This was a hard one to start with! I'm proud of surviving what could of been my last year. I'm proud of the growth I've made this year, as a human and yoga teacher, even if I've hit a plateau (it won’t last!). And I'm proud of the community and connections I've made while being completely myself.
I went with a simple one-legged mountain for today. Balancing life while taking it one step at a time.

Jamie is standing on one leg, outside in the back corner of a yard, beige cement wall/fence behind her, with blue sky and green trees behind that. The sun shines through the trees creating shadows on her, the ground, and wall. She has her arms by her side, hair down, sunglasses on, gaze slightly towards the sky. Hashtags incoming…

Happy Summer Solstice and International Yoga Day Every Body!
I had a totally different post planned for today (not pictured). But then I took Diego the Corgi to the park and met a lady. We started talking and quickly realized we had a lot in common. Joni is a certified oracle and tarot reader, she also does energy, chakra and numerology work. She gave me a simple reading without knowing much of my recent life, with no other details other than we recently moved and the date of my birthday this year, 06-15-2023. No doubt I had some skepticism, but the reading was spot on. It gave me chills. I wish I had it recorded but basically, she first added the numbers in my birthday to come up with the number 1 (numerology addition in the comments). She said that this is year 1 of a new chapter in life for me. That the next 6 months will show positive change, as long as I follow what's in my heart and have fun with it. She also said that I probably wasn't having the best time in the weeks leading up to my birthday (I definitely wasn't!) but that now (with the Gemini new moon) I should be feeling better and things should start looking up. Whether you believe in this stuff or not, this one hit me deep. It was exactly what I needed to hear. I wasn't expecting to get a life reading at the dog park today, but what a perfect day for it! I just had to share! What do you think?? ✨️🔮
Jamie, a white woman, performs side plank, outdoors, on the dried up greenish grass, trees, blue sky and clouds behind her. She's wearing a black bucket hat, gray cropped tank, and black buddha pants, on a black and white striped blanket.

I had my birthday last week (June15th). And between my accident and moving it wasn't much of a birthday. I've had enough excitement for one month! But we are so happy to be back at our old stomping grounds. Thanks to my aunt for the perfect shirt! And thanks to everyone else for the birthday wishes!
