During my NCC certification renewal I was given an option to complete a voluntary audit since I had completed 130+ CE credit hours, instead of the required 100, over the previous 5 year certification period. I was scrolling and saw the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. and Affiliates - NBCC posted this! 🤩

Happy ! 🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
LGBTQIA+ individuals experience greater risk of mental health challenges and systemic inequalities. Additionally, people within the LGBTQIA+ community are at greater risk for suicidal ideation and attempts.
Did you know? 🤔In the first edition of the Diagnostic and Statistic Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) in 1952, homosexuality was listed as a mental health disorder. In the 1970s, the American Psychiatric Association voted to remove homosexuality as a mental disorder, but it was not removed completely from the DSM. It was not until the 1980s that homosexuality was completely removed as a categorized disorder in the DSM.
⭐️Although there is stigma and misinformation about the LGBTQIA+ community, it's important to recognize that LGBTQIA+ does not equal mental illness. 💙🌈

On , we raise our voices to promote understanding and reduce stigma surrounding schizophrenia. 🧠Schizophrenia affects about .32% of the total population, and it can vary based on factors such as age, gender, and geographic location.
According to research, people with schizophrenia experience a higher rate of OCD than the general population. Additionally, OCD will often show up asking the questions, "What if I develop schizophrenia? What if I go crazy? What If I lose my mind and experience hallucinations that cause me to do something uncontrollable, shocking, embarrassing, or harmful?" 🤔
Unfortunately, there is a lot of stigma associated with both schizophrenia and OCD. Today and everyday, it's important to raise awareness, clearly differentiate schizophrenia and OCD, and pursue effective treatments that can save lives. 💙

Happy mother's day! 🌸

To all the moms—biological, adoptive, foster, step, and chosen—
To the ones raising little humans or nurturing grown ones,
To the fur moms and pet parents,
To those who mother through presence, guidance, or everyday care -
You matter.

And for anyone feeling the weight of today—missing a mom, wishing things were different, or carrying something tender—there’s space for that, too.

However you connect with this day, I hope it meets you gently.
