Anyone interested to know more about trauma-informed yoga? I am a chopra certified instructor and have focused my attention on trauma-informed yoga because my body has absorbed a lot of trauma and I found out 4 years ago that I had been walking around with a broken back for 20 years. Yikes! I managed to get my yoga certificate with a broken back and the help of some pins and cages, magnesium soaks, and a kot of bodywork. The image I posted represents how i think my back looks in my mind’s eye.

Chopra calls the yoga he taught me as the signature Chopra Flow. I call it “yoga for the rest of us that can’t keep up.” One of my mentors, Dr Suhas calls it “bionic yoga” because of all the metal parts I have in my back.
😅😅😅
One of my coaching clients created a mantra for her life after becoming partially disabled from a COVID shot. She calls it “Do it disabled.” So that’s what we do. We do yoga, but we do it disabled.
1. We go slow. If we can speed up we do but not at the risk of harming ourselves. We organize our bodies momet by moment, following the breath first -no quick movements and no sighs of exasperation for not trying to mske a square fit into a circle.
2. We have the asana fit the body and not vice versa. If you can’t reach the floor, the floor will come to you through modifications and props.
3. The chair is a tool that helps you find your tadasana pose. Sometimes the chair needs a footstool.
4. The Yamas and Niyamas are practiced as is Pranayama, mudras bija mantras and the laws of success.
5. You move to where your body says it’s ok. Your ego stays at the door. No peeking 🫣 to see what your neighbor is doing. Your neighbor’s trauma is not yours to carry. You have enough.
6. The goal is not to flaunt on instantgramificstion. The goal is to prepare you mind for meditation by moving your body. Meditation is there to get your body ready for yoga.
7. You don’t have to be your best. Just show up. The best will come with dritti/discipline.
8. Ayurveda plays a big part in my trauma-informed yoga. I create sequences based on your dosha (mind-body constitution) so we don’t have Pittas fighting with Kapha on pacing and cadence. It’s quite possible to show up and find your tribe waiting for you in this style. Income from the Raja Yoga school; it incorporates Hatha.
Let me know if you have questions or if I can help anyone trying to find movement when movement is painful. 😓

Interesting discussion today at my grounding and meditation class involving the universal law of giving and receiving. The bottom line was thst you need to give more of what you want to receive. I want to give someone a nice a gift. Who wants it? There’s no obligation in receiving it and there’s no need to reciprocate. Who wants a gift?

I just can't stop smiling at these. Want to show off some Ayurvedic flair to your colleagues and clients? Get yourself a snazzy copper dosha pin.

According to Ayurveda, universal life force manifests as three different mind-body constitutions, or doshas, known as vata, pitta, and kapha. We're all made up of a unique combination of these three forces. Though everyone has some of each, most people tend to have an abundance of one or two of....

When we think about who we want to be versus who we are, building an idea of the habits you would like to cultivate is a good place to start in order to focus the image of who you want to be.
What habits would your future self be busy with?
How do those habits relate to your current ones?

If you are looking to change your lifestyle this is a good place to start.

One thing is for certain: you cannot step into the future with your old biology. You have to become a new person.
This is a main theme in health and wellness coaching.
