Thank goodness it was a training with Lactation Professionals! Well and chiropractors but they were there for lactation, too.
Iām not sure I would have felt comfortable pumping during the training and in the conference room if it wasnāt.
I purposely sat at the back so I wouldnāt distract others during my pumping sessions. I would pump every 3hours during this 8-5 training. Based on what Iāve learned nursing Arlo, I would expect to pump 2-4.5 oz. each time. I knew it wouldnāt be consistent because there are times where he would feed like it was a buffet and other times like it was a drive-thru. (That was fun to type. lol)
Now before I continue and since Iām an IBCLC, I did what worked for me as a mother. :) I wouldnāt suggest taking this as full advice if you are pumping somewhere other than your home. That requires individualized support through a consult. š
When it was time to pump I:
1. Took my pump out of my cooler
2. Put them on, pulled my chair towards the rear corner of the conference room, and pumped away. While my pump was fairly quiet, I didnāt want to disrupt/distract others because I would usually be pumping while the lecture was going on. I pumped for about 25mins each time.
3. Once I was done, I poured my milk straight into the chiller.
4. I then wiped my parts and put it back into my cooler.
Yep thatās it.
Oh yes, I know⦠āBut I thought you should wait before the milk is the same temperature before mixing!ā
Yes. That IS what most guidelines still say. But things have changed and besides, Ceres has thought about this too! They provide a great resource and explanation on their FAQ. Itās such a great read by the way! Youāre welcome.
At the end of the day, I used the Ceres All-You-Need Wash Basin Bag. Yet another brilliant invention by them! š
Based on how things went, I realized I bought too many chambers. However, they make a great water bottle for the girls. So theyāve been using that to school. I plan to use them for future family trips too!
Oh and the chiller? We can use it for many other things. Ugh, so cool. š
