This week humbled me.
Monday I woke up at 5am planning on BJJ, but pushed it to Wednesday.
Instead, I hit 10x500m rows (1 min rest). That session smoked me.
Worked all day, then capped it with an upper body lift at night.
Tuesday I woke up sore, so I kept it lighter:
30 min row in Zone 2 → active recovery.
Wednesday — first day back to BJJ.
Technique was sloppy, live rolls even sloppier 😅.
But it felt amazing just being back.
Afterwards: EWOT + massage.
I thought I’d bounce back for hard cardio and lifting… boy was I wrong.
Thursday I woke up feeling like a truck ran me over.
Kept it easy with a Zone 3 steady row.
Friday back to BJJ again.
Same story: technique rusty, body sore.
And the sleep? Tossing, turning, waking up 2–3 times a night.
That’s when it hit me —
BJJ is a whole different animal compared to lifting or HIIT.
It lights up every nerve in your body, keeps your parasympathetic system buzzing long after class. And my body just isn’t adapted yet.
So today → light HIIT (8x1min row / 1min rest) + a lower body session.
Slowly building back to 3+ days of BJJ a week.
For now, I’ll keep pushing the boulder up the mountain…
because eventually, I’ll reach the top. ⛰️
